I have started a relationship with another before letting go of a current one - I tend to 'hang on' until the last thread of hope is gone. I always make it clear to the 'new' person that I still have feelings for the current one if that's the case.

It would depend on how I felt about that person as an individual. I tend to look at what a person's heart and intellect is like rather than the color of their skin. All humans have the same anatomical make up.

So, I take the responses to mean that a "one night date" is the current term for a "one night stand?"

And, role playing is referring to sexual role playing. I guess I wouldn't categorize that under a date. I'd have put it under sex practices or preferences or something like that.

If I find it necessary to seek someone else out, I will first end the present relationship. I wouldn't respect myself if I cheated on my mate. And also, when a relationship ends, I like my alone time. I need a breather before the next relationship.
