Hey, I dropped off the face of the earth. Some brutal work hours with no days off. Sorry about that. Nightnurse- I'll try and stay on topic but that cornbread looks incredible. Looks perfect for a Sunday morning. Thank you so much for sharing. A perfect way to use up my abundance of black eyed peas:) Jim- I don't have anything really great anymore.. It's kind of embarassing and disheartening. I apologize for being a lazy bum here but are you interested in tropical aquatic plants? The things I need to go revive are things like my crypt collection that went through a melt when I neglected them and need to beef back up.. nothing spectacular.. c. balansae C. retrospiralis C. Spiralis C. lucens C. petchi C. willisii C. walkeri The worst of it is they can be a pain to identify at the best of times and right now they're melted to nothing.. being crypts I'm sure they'll come back but they're going to need some coddling. I have the usual stuff like E tennelus some vals and Sagittaria subulata, I mowed those down when I moved tanks but they grow like weeds so I'm sure, especially if I give them some plant love, that they'll be back strong soon.. anubias nana that I'm karmically obligated to share because the original piece was given to me maybe 7 years ago. I killed or preemptively gave away all the fun stuff like glosso, my toninas honestly don't know if the Didiplis diandra, Ludwigia arcuata or Heteranthera zosterfolia is kicking around in a tank somewhere or not. Like I said, it's embarassing. Not sure if that's any help or not. My digital camera's a battery sucking older one and I need to get rechargable batteries before it's much use.. which is a good excuse to buy time to get my tanks, and their plants, looking at least somewhat presentable. MicheleLee- Thank you very much! My balcony's eastern exposure. Really looking forward to going and hoping nothing interferes. My boyfriend's scheduled to go back to London in early Marchand I've already explained his flight plans can't conflict with this. He's not very impressed with it but I think he caught the determination in my voice.

Do you ever wish you had a facelift instead of a new kitchen?

    Q

    Comments (46)
I think some opinions about facelift etc are relative to aging. I know friends and even myself who scorned the idea/vanity of cosmetic/plastice surgery in our younger years. However, as things begin to sag, some of us (not all of us but certainly myself) began to reconsider. Then it becomes a matter of priorities and money. When I see the need of new hardwood floors, driveway, basement remodeling, etc in my future, it's hard to prioritize something that would make me happy (plastic surgery - and why is it called plastic?) vs something that might improve the value of my home as I near retirement. I personally think a facelift/eyelift would be more gratifying than a new driveway! (but obviously didn't think the same about a new kitchen though I did have some regrets). However, I didn't mean to get serious and am glad a couple of folks had a good laugh!

    1. joined a singles support group? Yes - Parents without Partners and St. Mark's singles group, both were wonderful groups of people with similar situations. We were able to 'compare notes' and offer suggestions to each other. I highly recommend such groups.

    2. worked a dangerous job? No - I would never intentionally put myself in harm's way.

    3. dreamed/had a nightmare of an ex mate? Yes - usually it's where my ex is with his new S.O. and I am looking on, but one such dream was that the new S.O. was chasing me with a butcher knife. I would have suggested she could put that butcher knife to better use on HIM ie Loraina Bobbett!

    4. been in a serious car accident? Not a life-threatening one - however, I have been extremely lucky.

    5. taken a trip abroad? Not yet - would LOVE to go to several countries such as Rome and some of the exotic islands.

    6. won a very expensive prize? Not yet, but am working on winning the prize of a lifetime - will let you know if I win!

    7. broken a significant other's heart? I don't really think so - they seem to have moved on before I did - the way it should be.

    8. had a life-threatening illness? No, thank God!

    9. ridden on a cable car? yes - many time in San Francisco - wonderful experience!

    10. dumped a lover, then regretted it? No - I hang on til there is no more hope (in my mind), then I am done with it.

    11. been devastated by losing a lover? No - I am usually the one that dumps the guy. This last one shocked/upset me greatly, but once I put everything into perspective, I knew it happened for a VERY good reason.

    12. used the services of a psychic? Yes - at a family reunion. It amazed me that she was right-on in several areas. I am, however, still wondering why these psychics can't guess credit card numbers!! LOL

    13. met a Celebrity/someone very famous? Yes - I have personally met or talked with: Lyle Lovett, Ray Charles, Neal Diamond, BB King. Before Wayne Newton was a really famous person, he cruised thru a bar with his possee, where I was shooting pool, watched us for a few minutes, walked over to me and shook my hand, saying I had the prettiest blue eyes he'd ever seen - LOL Of course, I had been flirting with him, so I guess it wasn't so unusual, but it was unusual for ME - WOW!

    14. spent HOURS on the phone with a new friend who later
became your S.O.? I am doing this at the present time, and if fate allows, I predict he will be my S.O. for a long time to come.

    15. delved into the 'spirit' life/world? Yes - played with the ouija board as a teenager.

    16. tried to stay just friends with an ex? I am still friends with all my ex boyfriends.

    17. physically experienced any of the Seven NATURAL Wonders
of the World? Yes - The Grand Canyon and the Northern Lights (I lived in Minnesota for three years) where they are so vibrant it seems you could reach out and touch them - AWESOME sight!

    18. lived in an exotic location such as Hawaii, etc.? No - but would love to live in a tropical climate.

    20. experienced a PROFESSIONAL full-body massage? Oh yes - and I plan on getting many more. This is almost as good as great sex IMHO!

    1. joined a singles support group? No

    2. worked a dangerous job? Yes, I worked in construction with heavy equipment. Had to walk the rafters, get on the roof. Got shot with a nail gun three times (but only once was self-inflicted. LOL). Almost cut my finger off on a compound saw. But fortunately, after 7 yrs of construction, I still have all my fingers and toes. LOL

    3. dreamed/had a nightmare of an ex mate? Yes, erotic dreams. Funny how they're better in my dream world. LOL

    4. been in a serious car accident? Was in a head on collision. The other driver fell asleep at the wheel and crossed the center line. I saw him coming and pulled completely off the road and into someone's yard as far as I could. He still hit me and totalled my car. I had a few abrasions and bruises. My passenger hit her head on the windshield. Would ahve been worse had I not been paying attention.

    5. taken a trip abroad? No

    6. won a very expensive prize? Gambled at a casino for the first time. I started with $20 and never added more. I won all night and my sister kept taking my winnings and playing other machines. About 5 a.m. I hit a Jackpot of $250. My sis came around to take some of that and I slapped her hand and said "We're going home now."

    7. broken a significant other's heart? Yes and I felt bad about it, but it was not a relationship I could continue.

    11. been devastated by losing a lover? Yes, I mourned for a year, as if he had died, altho he hadn't. He was the love of my life. I had never known love like that before or since. But at the same time, I realize that it wasn't the relationship that I needed. It was a stepping stone to get me on a better spiritual ground.

    12. used the services of a psychic? No, but I think I'd like to

    13. met a Celebrity/someone very famous? I met Mickey Mouse once. Does that count? And Woody Woodpecker. I have pictures!

    14. spent HOURS on the phone with a new friend who later
    became your S.O.? Yes

    16. tried to stay just friends with an ex? Yes. I must pick some pretty good guys because it's been easy to maintain a friendly relationship with them and their new significant others.
