Friday Night Rant 10/26/07

Hi all...not really a rant, just some thoughts that have run through my mind. I honestly never thought I'd come back around here after my "exile", but I am glad that Jo(aka kayjones) encouraged me to try. I have missed many of you. What I have found is that you can leave a situation and feel like you can move on without regrets, but it's not always true. You still look back and wish things were like they were before. Nothing ever stays the same. (Get used to it)..Time is a reminder to make todays experiences a happy memory of tomorrow and move on to the next day. Looking back on some old threads, I have a lot of memories and I thank my friends here for those.

But since I have started a rant thread, I will bring a bit of personal peeves in here since I am sipping on a shot of Baileys Irish Cream and Crown Royal....My daughter is driving me crazy with her upcoming wedding plans....I have no problem with plans, I just want SET plans....first it's a church wedding (expensive for dad, but I'd deal with it)... then it was in a small chapel with a dinner for just family and a pub crawl afterwards....now she wants a church wedding again with a dance....just shoot me...I have been training for weeks for this pub crawl so I can keep up...now all for nothing....grrrr

Linda, I'm glad to hear the pup is doing better, hang in there. (Get it? Drapes? Hang in there? Oh never mind...) The Other Linda: Only a couple of weeks? Are you ready? does the celebration have anything to do with Leopards? LOL Congratulations to Erin, her fiancee passed the CF test and we approve! Jo, have a great time at the wedding. At least he's old enough to know what he wants, LOL. I just kind of shake my head when I see these 18 year olds wandering blindly and happily into marriage, and wish they'd get a couple of years under their belt first. Of course, I did the same thing at 18, so go figure. Here we need rain. It's supposed to rain, but it doesn't. Like Doucanoe, I think I'm in the Sahara here. A couple of weeks ago we had flash floods, federal disaster areas, things were washing away. Now nothing. Nada. The pasture is too big to sprinkle. So, it looks like I'll spend the weekend doing a rain dance, LOL. I want to pick some more sweet cherries, they're prolific this year and sweet and good. The apple trees need spraying, the garden needs tilling, I need to work on the duck pen so I can let the little ducks out of their coop. I need to walk the fenceline and make sure that rental bull stays right where he belongs, with my two redheaded ladies. And I want to bake Jojoco's summer torte, maybe Sunday if I pick cherries again tomorrow. Elery is on his 12 hour weekend shifts, so he won't be back here until Sunday evening, I'm on my own. Oh, and the pool needs cleaning too! Annie

You're lucky to get a nuisance permit, I can't get it here, probably I'm more rural. You might want to look into electric fencing,..I got away with shot caps until trees are large enough, see link..then it's not a problem anymore,..just pruning ends. Deer solutions, redux

Rant - Received a bill from the anesthesiologist company that dated back to DS2's birth almost two years ago. It was with our old insurance but is covered. For some reason they didn't respond or pay that so we received a bill. I got to play middle man calling back and forth trying to straighten everybody out. Four phone calls. Oh the joy. I think all is well now but I will be following up. Rant 2 - AT&T's live chat pisses me off. Wasted four hours of my life dealing with them (I'm not exaggerating) when we didn't have cell signal. It was becoming a regular thing for a while. They insisted it was our SIM cards (both of them and my neighbors. . . ) and not the towers. *eye roll* I finally agreed to go to the store and have them changed (for free) just so I could mark it off the list. I was still walking into the store when the girl confirmed, what I already knew, a tower was down in my area. Grr. That's the really condensed story. I filled our my customer survey for the chat. Rave - DS1 finished his swimming lessons yesterday and before being the last one out of the water he asked the helpers/guards if he could go down the large water slide. He can't swim yet. They agreed and he ended up going twice. One helped him up the stairs and two waited at the bottom to grab him after he went in. He was so happy! In general I found all those kids (teens/helpers/guards) to be very encouraging and kind to all the kids the two weeks they had lessons. Side note - The pool isn't open during lessons and all the other kids and parents were gone before the sliding took place. The instructor was fine with it. She taught me how to swim and did all my trainings and certifications so we were finishing a catch up. Rave 2 - Thought were were going to have to replace our water softener but all is well.

Hi Iris (duz the "S" stand for "sucker"?), It seems to me that a good variety of useful and friendly advice has been offered. Question 1. Has your husband been an active participant in carrying out these chores related to his family? Or mainly a passive participant as he listens/ed to your squawking? Or did you feel uncomfortable in asking even that participation? Question 2. If these issues were resolved in a manner which left you feeling appreciated, vindicated and fully comfortable, would you be willing to continue to participate? These chores, fertilized by some concern, grew to some frustration in your heart, which grew into anger with all of this unappreciated load of choring care, following the birth. What level of awareness do the perpetrators have of your feelings regarding this unappreciated new addition to the family/ies? (Also, your husband?). How would you relate to a suggestion that you think for a while on the history of this increasing frustration, writing the detailed history down from time to time? Give some thought to it, regarding which issues are essential and which incidental. What parts/proportions of it do you feel comfortable with sharing with hubby ... probably from time to time - and probably orally, rather than having him aware of the treatise with all of its details on one potentially confrontational occasion. Sort through which issues that you feel that you must deal with with the pet owners, which ones have priority, which one would appear to need to be dealt with first, etc. ... and whether better to deal with them all on one occasion, or spread out over a period. One way or another, if you don't get them dealt with to a level with which you can feel comfortable, it would almost certainly lead to further frustration for you if you agree to continue. Even if you don't, I think you need to get at least part of this rather serious issue at least partly dealt with, in the interest of building an ongoing good relationship among the family members, long term. Good wishes as you work through this part of life's journey. I hope and pray that you can get it accomplished with a good spirit on everyone's part throughout. ole joyful

Michael, think back a few years - remember, reflect and then relax. You made it through back then, even though the odds were against you, and you will do it again.

Your little girl is all grown up now - relinquish yourself to the idea that she 'thinks' another man is her main man now - you are just the one she will come to when she's unhappy - you are STILL her MAIN MAN!

Oh I know Jo....I can't complain about her other than the flip flopping is getting to me...and yes she is much better today than she was as a teenager....she is the apple of my eye.

P.S. A Splash of Baileys in a cup of coffee on a weekend morning on the weekend works with any brand of coffee.

A final thought for the night, since I've been watching horror movies and getting smashed I got distracted...are there any other people that just keep things so deep inside of them and really just need an avenue to blow off some steam?...This is the place and luckers are welcome to join in...btw, a thread is coming that is calling out all lurkers part II....off to dreamland now. Nite Folks.

Hi Eileen...I used to be like that but I guess I got burned a few times and it's hardened me. Wish that it hadn't, but it has.

Hi, all. What does this evening find you doing? I could go off on a rant about my 17-yr. old stepson, but you have all heard this choir before, so I won't. I just can't imagine we were ever like the teenagers of this day and age!

My evening will find me doing absolutely nothing! I like to be busy, but everyone I normally do stuff with is out with their significant other doing cool stuff.

I am invited to a Halloween party. My fledgling relationship ended abruptly a few weeks ago. So I'm happy to have something to do.
