I spoke with Tinman by phone a few days ago and he is fine but has been taking an extended internet break, including emails. He promised me he wouldn't stay gone forever. I assured him he is much missed.

I'm alive and kicking, just been totally snowed under between fall furnace startups and a new house that I have had dropped in my lap....I get home at night, eat and maybe watch TV and fall asleep in the easy chair....I see the light at the end of the tunnel and hope it's not a freight train coming at me. ;)
Barnmom, that was a pleasant surprise hearing from you, sorry I've been so slow to get back.

I'm leaving for Colorado tomorrow for the holiday and to do a few days of "recharging" of the old battery....I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I'll make a better effort to not make a stranger of myself...Take Care All and be safe if you are traveling over the holiday!!

Squirrel I'm glad you brought up the bookshelf. It is very outdated looking. I think I'll ask dh to cut a piece of wood and nail it up there. I guess it wouldn't look any worse than it does now, lol. I had plans to finish installing the crown molding tonight, but I am ticked off with dh for taking too long with another project so he is ticked with me, ;) I think we might need to take a break and relax for a while. Reading some of the 'why men won't read directions' thread in the kitchen forum cooled me off quite a bit. Men, just gotta love 'em!

I think I'm one of those "limbo" people... I'm not married but living with my boyfriend who, now I find out has no intention of marrying me. I naively assumed we'd get married after a bit... I was married for 27 years and although we didn't get along, there was something comforting about having a husband. I'm around 50 and feel so stupid introducing people to my "boyfriend". I wish I had the strength to move out. Wish I would have listened to Dr Laura "before" I moved in with my significant other. What forum works for people like me?

What have you done for a living or did for sustenence?

LOL... very little that earned me a "living". I worked in a hardware store, farmed, and was cook to carhop at a couple restaurants... before I dropped out of highschool and joined the military. After college I cleaned telephone buildings, worked at Burger King, taught at the local University, worked in a print shop, worked in a plastics factory, worked as a Social Worker, tended a gas station, farmed some more, worked construction, and those are the "jobs" I can remember. Lots of work that never paid a dime! These days I make steel transmission parts for a living and do a little farming on the side. Most of the time I've had to work two jobs because I didn't have a "real" job. : ) michael

Hi Walks....that's a weird keyboard quirk that you have there...Don't be embarassed though....this turned out to be the most popular thread in perhaps the history of TSL..way to go!.......As far as my daugther, it's a permanent visit. A combination of missing her mother and things not going well at school here...She's a senior this year and I hated to see her do it (my entire family has tried to talk her into waiting just a few more months) but she has her mind made up. She is enrolled in a school down there now but with different graduation criteria, she is looking at summer school in order to get her diploma. She has driven me crazy the last few weeks but I think that this is the best for both of us. I'll start the next "How was..." thread unless someone beats me to it and put a "6" in there in honor of you..gigglin' As far as cats go, this one that I "inherited" is going to have to be shaved before long...it's a long hair mix breed that's starting to mat up and no way am I going to try to clip it out...heh
