Need a 3" long 10-24 screw. Do they exist? If so, where?
Comments (9)I need them to replace too short pin head screws that go through the center of some ceramic cabinet knobs we bought. Our children love the decoration on the knobs, but they screws they came with are so short they don't go through the cabinets. They also have no place on the head for a screwdriver, but since I can't find any long enough that are plain heads I figured I'd have to resort to regular screws and just have it not be as nice looking, unfortunately....See MoreSo where's all the booze?
Comments (50)Alcohol is all over our house. Most of the liquor is in a cabinet at the bottom of the basement stairs on the finished side of the basement. Wine is in racks on the cooler side of the basement. There is a wine rack in an upper cab in the kitchen that holds about 10 bottles of table wine. In the bottom of the pantry cupboard next to the cooktop, I have things like brandy, sherry, marsala, etc. of a grade used for cooking. There's a bottle of eau de vie that lives in the frig - it tastes best really cold. Wow - I never thought of locking it away from teen DD! I'm Italian-American, so I drank wine at holiday dinners when I was a child and teen. I believe in letting children learn about responsible, moderate use of alcohol in a family setting - isn't that the European model? She's allowed to drink a little in front of us, but she doesn't really care for it much. I can understand why parents would be careful, though. Even if your own kid wasn't going to sneak your booze, friends can encourage bad behavior. Teens' IQ's seem to decrease in indirect proportion to the size of the group they're in....See MoreSo where in Europe would you buy a vacation home?
Comments (31)Well, Gooster, a lot of people think it will keep dropping. so maybe you will have plenty of opportunity; who knows. I did want to chime in re Chile. We were in Chile this past December. It is a very lovely country, and it sure does have a ton of coastline! We did a day trip to Valparaiso (very disappointing and a dump, frankly) and to Vina del Mar (I think it's most famous beach town). To me, Vina del Mar looked like Miami before its revival. Lots of 70s and 80s high rises, things in poor repair, stray dogs on the street, traffic, vendors selling lots of total junk. Thumbs down. We did have the great fortune of going to Zapallar to visit a Chilean family we had met earlier in our travels and Zapallar is gorgeous; looks a bit like the French riviera. That said, pretty small, very few amenities and overwhelmingly local. I am not sure if I would want to be in a place that did not have more of an international community? Oh and Chile's on-again-of-again dalliances with socialism might concern me as an investor. And overall, South America is a frustrating place --- just not well run at all....See MoreDoes anyone recognize this rug and if so, where can I buy it?
