New here-this seems like a nice forum

Hello, I just wanted to post and say "hi" I accidentally found this site when I did a Google search for articles on flirting (something I am not that fond of) but that is beside the point. It just seems like a nice group of people and I wanted to know I am enjoying reading the posts very much.

As an aside, does anyone know of any women's websites, that aren't IVillage? I like to look at sites for women, tried to find more, I like IVillage Ok, but it just seems so geared (at least for single women) as if everything about being a single woman is the constant pursuit of men, being sexy for men, and the like. Years ago, there was an e-mail list for women called "happy single women at onelist.com" no longer exists.

I haven't had much luck finding a women's website. Like you, I searched around a while, but most of what I found turned out to be dating services, which was not what I had in mind.

The single life forum moves rather slowly at times. I guess most of the singles are out having a grand old time!! However, some of us singles are senior citizens and just enjoy learning how other seniors cope with life and being alone.

So, welcome aboard.

Here is a site that I like. I'm not sure what their objective is but they do seem to have topics on just about everything and it isn't geared just towards babies and man chasing.

Today I saw an article about raising lizards.

hey happy ... welcome next.. where are you .. it helps a little beyond just z6 ... actually.. now is one of the prime times to be planting trees.. shrubs.. and conifers ... dealing with clay is all about 'how to plant' .... rather than selecting plants that need it .... but you need to clarify what kind of clay ... any chance its that battleship gray OH clay ...??? or are you meaning a soil that has some clay tendencies ... bottom line.. its all about drainage ... finally.. how many .. because your little wish list.. is going to be hard to fill .. with one plant ... e.g. the ones with the best spring flowers.. like lilac ... are pretty drab the rest of the year ... and the ones with fall color are pretty boring in spring ... etc ... lastly ... yeah.. caffeine buzz.. lol ... your limitation this time of year is how to get what you want.. finding stuff locally might be a problem.. but there is always mail order for the unique ... more facts please.. ken

New to this Forum, would like help with ideas for a flower garden

Thank you for the advice of all the types of flowers. I checked some of them out and would love to add these. If online, what is a good place to purchase plants? I know I'll have a hard time finding some of these plants. I took some pictures of my ditch. It's such an open area and so long I don't know how to start. I guess I'll just start by planting my taller items closer to the rocks and placing cardboard and mulch around the newly planted items to keep the weeds from taking over. Then adding the shorter smaller items later on. Sounds good? Other ideas? Is it too late to seed outdoors? The potential garden area is now a ditch about 70 feet in length 5-20 feet across - shaped like a skinny triangle. The dead grassy area is where the old weeds grew and there are river rocks underneath. To the left are the apple trees. The pictures are looking Northwest ditch runs N - S Thanks!

The bird I'm sorry to say came from Kohl's during the summer when all their outdoor stuff was on sale. The glass I used for the bluebird was Van Gogh Blue and used the blue/green on the tail and wings. That one was a pistol to complete. Sometimes by the end of the project I am absolutely sick of cutting small pieces, and my arm is beyond hurting but it is my stress relief and keeps me out of trouble!

mariaocean, Have you located any of those sites yet? I checked out the one gurley1576 mentioned.

As I mentioned before, sometimes this forum moves slowly, but keep checking back in from time to time. I've "met" some great folks here and I'm sure you will, too. Don't give up on us just yet.

mariaocean - Can't tell if you were up late or up early - but good Saturday morning!!

It was cool this morning (57*) and I really wanted to sleep in, but little Murphy wanted out, then in because he was cold, then out again. Guess it's time to dig out his little winter sweaters for these cool early mornings. The other 2 dogs have heavy undercoats and long hair so they are relishing the cool.

Am off in a bit to do some shopping. Normally, I do one big shopping trip per month, but in the last couple of weeks have had to go into town several times. It's 25 miles to the nearest town of any size. I'm really a country gal at heart, so being out here in the boonies suits me just fine.
