Hurt & confused

I've been dating my boyfriend for over a year now. Our relationship has been rocky from the beginning cause of his ex wife. We have both hurt each other & neither of us are more guilty than the other I know that.

His ex wife heard we were moving in together & so she went to him & basically backed him into a corner. She said she would move with the kids if he didn't let her move in. She was hoping it would make me so mad I'd quit talking to him. I would have if he wouldn't have made it clear to her that it was just for the kids and that he was in love with me.

She ended up moving out last month cause we were still seeing each other & her tactics didn't work. Last night we went on a date & he stayed with me. That night I got a text from a guy saying "sleeping" I assumed it was to the wrong person but I don't know. My boyfriend started making all kinds of accusations saying I texted him back but I didn't. Then that I had a hickey on neck (he saw it while we were at lunch today) but it wasn't a hickey it was make up, it washed right off after lunch. Plus I had been with him the last 2 nights so when would I have gotten it from someone else if it was a hickey?

Now he is saying he doesn't know if we can see each other anymore cause he can't believe what I say cause I told him I didn't text that guy back & he 'knows' I'm lying. I've never lied to him or kept things from him even though he thinks I did. I know he has completley ruined things with his ex wife so I know its not that she wants to work things out. By choosing to continue seeing me while she lived there showed her he didn't want her anymore (she & I have talked a lot!).

I just don't know what to do anymore!?!...I stood by him even after he moved her in & he gets upset over a text message that may or may not have been meant for me?

Very strange. Sounds to me as if he was looking for an excuse to break it off, for whatever reason. Maybe it has something to do with the ex-wife..who knows.

I have a MIL and FIL just like that! And a SIL, BIL and wife too. Evidently, when the BIL's youngest daughter was born, they thought this would be the last grandchild, Then, DH and I had a son (3yrs.) and a daughter (14 mos). When we asked if they wanted to spend time with the kids, us, anything... the response is always busy. They told other family members that they retired and they aren't doing grandchildren anymore, yet they moved next door to BIL to be closer to grandaughter. They didn't retire from bing grandparents, they just retired from my family. They have sleep overs, babysit, take the other grand kids to lunch, santa, etc. They never include my kids. Once, the BIL's daughter told my son to move out of his chair because she wanted to sit next to her "Aunt Robin, and that she was the favorite". My 2 yr. old son, moved to another chair. When I commented that that wasn't very nice to say, MIL said "Oh let her have her fun!". They only live 15 min. away. I have decided that I will not tolerate this behavior anymore, and nor will I make my children tolerate this. I don't want my kids to know that they are not the favorite, or that their family even has favorites. I don't want my kids exposed to the "demeaning way" that my ILs treat me. I dont' want them to think it's okay to treat anyone that way. My family begins here. My holiday events will be happy, fun, and surrounded by people who love each other. Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. are at my house. If anyone wants to come, they can, provided they treat my family with respect and kindness. If not, they are not welcome here. In my house, I am allowed to say that, and inforce it. I haven't had the chance to say it yet, they never visit. Julie

Thank you for your response. All the issues you raised are valid ones. Absolutely, this is minor in the grand scheme of things. It is just hard to want to reach out to a friend and be told not to. This is a girl that has been to our home many times and gone with us to our cabin, etc. My daughter and her/their friends got together last night. They said it was a group (?) decision not to include my daughter in the team gathering. They felt that the girl is always pretty emotional, but she is very emotional charged right now, understandably. They said there is no specific reason the girl has given for not liking my daughter. The best I can come up with is that sometimes for whatever reason friends fall in & out of favor with one another and it is just unfortunate that this is all happening at such a tragic time. It could be that if my daughter was there it all would have simply blown over. I think that their intentions were good, but misguided. My daughter did request that they tell her that she wasnÂt at the gathering because she wasnÂt given the choice. That when they didnÂt include her they took her choice away and she would have liked to have come. She told them that they owe her that. They agreed, but will see. One of the girls asked if she was coming to the funeral and she said yes, she has always liked the mom and said the funeral was for her and she would be going. She will also write the friend a note and make cookies for the family. It is somewhat of a damned if you do dammed if you donÂt situation, but certainly better to do. No boy involved. Age, aside my daughter has always shown remarkable people skills. IÂm so sorry the family has to go through this. Having just lost my brother a month ago after a very brief illness I understand the pain. The idea of someone so young losing their Mama is heart wrenching for us. My skids weren't the greatest before my DS was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer at 5 1/2. Yeah, my perception of them is colored by how they acted during that scary time. I started posting here because of it. Silver, lovehadley, psuedo and gerina are right. If my SD36 gave DS7 a tenth of the personal attention, meaning attention directed toward him personally instead of as an adjunct or competitor , my "jealousy" "diappointment" or whatever wouldn't exist. I don't expect much from SS30 but I hope for more from SD36. I am clear, she's not obligated to do anything for any of these kids including mine. It's interesting that no one has pointed a finger towards BM's role in their childhoods. Just how DH is a lousy grandpa, assuming he was a lousy father and so on. All I've said is that he is a better father now than then according to my skids. You have to have a pretty damaged psyche to be envious at any level of a six year old who was gravely ill. You bet, DH and I were out of our minds with fear and worry. He recovered, thank God and is 7 now. But my grown skids sure do care that SGS9 goes skiing if my kid goes skiing, that SGS has a party if DS is having one etc etc etc. because THAT KID needs love and attention.

It has been about a year and a half. Yes, she is missed by many. I doubt there is just one 'stinker'. Probably cumulative over time, then she was done and made what seemed like a snap decision. I think she deleted her final post but it has been some time so my memory has faded a bit. I was unaware of other forums she was active in until trying to contact her soon after her departure. Often 5-6 lengthy posts a day for ten years can be time consuming and must have been a snapping point where her time could be better used in her community. Lucky for those in her community she is teaching and giving her time and effort first hand, in person. On my other gardening forum, not houzz, a senior member with extensive knowledge and very appreciated, had a member needle poking. I call it 'tailgating'. For a few months he was posting two or three words, short and sweet immediately following every post of hers. Confusing until after one lengthy posting, he posted 'yawn'. It was immediately clear he had been insulting intentionally for all those months. I believe he was terminated. Gone. One thing that became difficult to ignore was the misunderstanding of poverty. As if no other can grasp that so many are in dire need. And that so many have poverty first hand in their past. Either childhood or stories from Grandparents. Or first hand in our communities and how we all contribute being more fortunate now. No, I don't think she can be found. Only Houzz forum staff know her e-mail addy. She did have a short lived blog. And was on a 'self-sufficient' other forum with a group of appreciative followers for a short time. If she is elsewhere on another group that is practicing self-sufficient practices with food stock pantries and on a tight budget for various reasons, she may have a new user name. Calling anyone on this cooking forum a 'food snob' was so out of character being stock makers, gardeners, stretching a dollar and composting, minimal garbage waste....eating fresh whole foods, not processed, learning and avoiding big Ag... I don't believe it was the frozen veggie postings. She did not even say it was a practice of hers, just what she was helping dollar-stretched seniors try and get variety in their diet and meals on a budget. Avoids the boredom of same-same. My mother does that because dad does not like broccoli and cauliflower in her soups. Re-bags for a side veggie. Not in soups.

Not worth all the drama...

Not saying either of you is / has a problem for the other; just not sure I'd want to be in a relationship with so much turmoil, if I didn't have to. Life is way too short and there is so much going on right now. You should be comfortable and happy; not worried about the wife, any games, accusations, etc. Any worries should be between the two of you and your lives together. Agan, sounds like just entirely too much drama. Cut your losses and move on. JMHO...

Ohhhhhhh I sooooooo agree about the drama....gneegirl I am wondering how much I always can relate to what you say, you are well-versed it seems in life. But Pixie, I am not sure how old you are but I know the older I have gotten, the more I HATE the drama of it. Turmoil is not my thing, I like calm, sounds like he is wanting out and finding a way that will ease his guilt by blaming you, a common thing people do. Heck I have done it myself in younger years, it is easier than accepting that I had made a bad choice or that I was acting outside what I believed to be the right thing to do. Good luck! Run far is what I say, I know much easier said then done.....

I would leave him behind and move on. I speak from 6 years experience with a man with a vindictive wife who used the children as weapons. At first I blamed her but then I realized she couldn't do anything unless he let her. And he let her because it was the path of least resistance. If he had cared about me and us he would have kept her drama from me and not let it affect our relationship but instead he asked me to just "ignore" her. Well I can't ignore someone who is disrespecting me in my own home. He even insisted that she have her own key to our home so she could come and go!

I won't go into all the sordid details but trust me, I could write a book on the stuff she did while he just stood by like he was deaf, dumb, and blind. After we finally went our separate ways it was like a heavy weight lifted off my shoulders, a weight I didn't even realize was there until it was gone; I wondered why I put up with it as long as I did.
