Valentine's Day questions
Comments (53)What beautiful flowers everyone received! My DH called me white I was at Costco the day before and told me to buy myself something I would not usually buy and he'd pay for it. I refused, but was tempted to buy a bouquet. He knows I do not celebrate Valentines Day. We actually have a joke about it-his ex was married on Valentines Day so we refuse to celebrate. Besides, i've always told him that sending me a bouquet at work on a random Thursday for no reason is WAAAY better than the typical occasions (b'day, anniversary, V Day, etc). I did get him a card and a red velvet cupcake, tho-and I sent my kids cards. Dropped off a little package to DS that included Dove chocolates (his nickname is Dove) and he got a kick out of that. One year, when we were dating, DH had not gotten me a valentine, and I was pretty upset, but didn't say anything. The next day we were going to visit his brother and we stopped off at a drug store. They had all their V stuff on half price and DH looked at me and said, 'oh, if you want to pick something out for yourself, go ahead'. I ALMOST broke up with him right then and there. Turned out that since he worked in a factory full of men, he never realized that V day was the day before. One year I DID receive 3 delivers in one day-from a beau, another fellow I'd dated on and off, and another guy who hoped to ask me on a date. That was quite fun-and the beau who came to take me to dinner that night and saw the other bouquets was not too happy. (none of them ended up being my DH tho!)...See MoreWhat's for Dinner ... Comments (12)Our menu was supposed to be steak, creamed spinach, grilled asparagus, and roasted turnip roots. DH had a terrible headache all day and didn't feel like grilling the steak. Instead, I went to our neighborhood Italian restaurant and picked up chicken sorrentino, garlic knots and a salad. We opened a great bottle of Sonoma Zinfandel. For dessert, we had some of the chocolate covered strawberries that DH sent me for Valentine's Day. DH is feeling much better this morning, so we're planning to have the steak meal tonight....See MoreHappy Valentine's Day and Tuesday's Tea
Comments (22)Congratulations ImHappy. will have to look up what you bought. Not familiar at all with the name. I have had my car over two years and still do not know how to work all of the bells and whistles. I have been good and finally tonight I glued the last piece of fill in for the hallway wall. Now to do the top part of the arbor then the pond plants grout all of it and I will be done. Not sure I will get it done by March which will be the three year point of starting. course I did not work on it constantly all that time. I finally feel like I made some progress. Happy to be back to creating again and not just filling in background. PHEW it will still be a long time before I see ground around here except for my driveway which I kept shoveled and it has melted about 85% of it. The walkway from front door to garage was terribly slick so I threw down some kitty litter on it. That really helped and I managed to get my trash out to the garage and also walk to the post office. The storm coming through gave a break today and was mostly freezing rain. Why everything is so slick....See MoreAnyone get anything or doing anything for Valentine's Day?
Comments (64)When my sons were little, we used to do a Valentine hunt. I'm pretty sure I've posted about it before. When they were done eating, I'd have them turn their plates over and taped to the bottom was a heart with a clue. That would lead to another and another. When I started, the younger boy couldn't read yet, so his clues were pictures not words. The final valentine led to a small gift, such as a pack of character underwear. I don't remember how old they were when we stopped. They each got only one thing and like I said, it wasn't something expensive or extravagant. It was just for the fun of it....See Moregneegirl
