I am a divorced Senior looking for friends to message. I am 62 and I am not looking for a date or anything like that. Just want to message with new friends of any age or gender.

I love cats. Computer literate and can talk just about anything.

Since they were so unthinking as to take, and not be generous with their time or commitments for the future, I think you should write it off to experience, and next time make it obvious that you are NOT GIVING AWAY the plants, you want to swap others for them. A bit of advance advertising, either a sign, or maybe an ad in the local newspaper (Mountain Express or one of the others, I think they are pretty low cost), or posted in the local cafes or stores would prep people to bring a plant or two in hope of getting a plant or two. This would especially work if you gave a short list of that you had the most of, as well as what you had only a few of - get people early for your rarities, and later, more relaxed for the ones that you had more of. Kudos to you for being generous, but I do also think you need to be a bit firmer and say the plants aren't free for the taking, only for trading. Maybe next time don't say Free Plants, if you put up a sign the next time. How about announcing a Plant Swap?

I don't know what kind it is. It was given to me by a friend. I'll attach a picture, but keep in mind it has been affected by our two light frosts. It propagates easily and readily, at least THIS one I know how to do! Mine grew from a single 8" tall stem to over 5' tall from April to September! I cut it back a little in October because it was blocking my view of the pool. I've taken cuttings and added on either side of it, all in that same season, so you're seeing four plants total.

Oh my goodness! Hello everyone! So sorry I was delayed:-(. It's been a rough week and thank goodness for you all here and my plants, or I would of slitted my throat. Life stinks at times, but then there is always good things to think of once you get through all the fog and see clrearly again:-0) Kemistry: That is the one scent that I could never explain! There is nothing quite like it and that is why I bought two. I actually use to get them at Logee's and would loose them constantly to disease. But I managed to talk my this nursery into selling unusual stuff and he has managed to pull it off. He is expanding to better things that can only be baought there and his way of thanking me was to give me them:-) If you should ever want one, let me know and I can either get you one or start cuttings. They are sooo easy to root! Rosey, like giving up cigarrettes for some people, those methods won't work for me..lol The only thing that will stop me from wanting to aquire any more is to feel overwhelmed with bugs, and thank goodness I think I know how to avoid them babies! Disease, another issue. I know not to get too much so that there is no room for them to breathe, let alone get light.lol I will always have a soft spot for weak and abused plants. Toni, YES, your fault. Remember when we talked and you said you sinned again? Well, I ran to Lowes that night and wondered if I might find something out of the ordinary, and I did. In fact, I blame Annie too..lol It was her that found some just like mine and encouraged me to get a good deal like she had. I even showed the store her post on getting the same plants for 2:50 and it worked.lol The blad stick I break into very small pieces. It's tree fern and the Hydroton is used for air space. It's great stuff. I can water my orchids all I want without fear of rot. Heck, I'll bet if you started a thread on your own about the new bunch of plants or sins that you have done, everyone will balme you too..lololol Hoping everyone is safe and happy tonight! Mike

Welcome to Florida and to the forum. You will have to watch each of us carefully as we are enablers when it comes to acquiring plants and also when it comes to swaps with food. The people on this forum are very generous and even if you do not have plants to share they will load you up when you attend a swap. They also send seeds and cuttings in the mail. Your pot garden will grow as fast as the plants do here. Let's see, Lisa made me purchase a varigated lemon this weekend and Cindee made me purchase a cherries jubilee alamande and Marcia made me acquire coleus this past week and Ricky made me purchase and uh acquire some crotons and cutting on the run. You see these people are evil and they drag you down with them *LOL* I just love these guys and we do have the most fun at swaps. I have met and made good friends via swaps and this forum. I live in Orlando and my motto is Carpe car keys. If there is something going on and I can afford the gas I seize my keys and take off. I attended Ricky's swap in Boca and it was so much fun. He is the bar-be-que king and always has pulled pork for us. This year he added brisket. Solstice is hosting a swap this fall here in Orlando and I know there are several more upcoming including Ricky's again. We are always willing to drag new gardeners into our wackiness and passion for plants. Sure Mimi Boo - I have friends of all shapes, sizes & ages. A dear friend who works for me from time to time is in his late 30's. Have friends younger than you and many older. Age really is a frame of mind. Would love to hear from you!

Well, I got busy, but finally got back only to have to fight my way thru a "jello commercial"? Good grief and it wasn't even a good one!!!
OK, if anyone checks in...I'm 60, married, work as a Secretary for a fuel company. I am a computer junky....not a guru or nerd, just adicted to it and the net. I'm into games/genealogy/walking/books on tape(for walking)/bike riding/healthy slow carb recipes.
We have 3 grandchildren and 2 greats. I enjoy people and like to visit. Is this board still open to friendships?

I am female, 57 years young, and recently widowed. I used to be quite active on this board, but got married and just lurked for the past 2.5 years. I would love to have an email friendship, especially with other widows and widowers. I garden, work and maintain a big house and yard.

I have three grown bio-sons and one 17-yr. old stepson. I have a beautiful 9-yr. old male border collie, who thinks he's a kid, too.

Things have been tough since my husband died of pancreatic cancer on April 17th of this year. I miss him SO MUCH! I spend lots of time crying and wondering 'why' and wading through the mountains of legal junk that happens when a spouse dies. I would welcome the break to talk to others.

How did all this work out for people? I am moving again, 50, single and starting to feel a little like a gypsy. Is it me or everytime I move does it get harder to make new friends? A single 50 year old female seems to be pretty invisible. I would like to strike up some new friendships. I am fairly quiet, like to read, bird watch, both in the back yard and out investigating nature preserves and trails. Love animals though I don't currently have any and before I started moving around the country I used to love to vegetable garden.
I also like TV and refuse to be embarrassed by that:) Loved the Soprano's, will miss it. I've replaced it with Rescue Me.

I haven't heard for anyone - guess it didn't pan out. I would love to have someone to 'hang out' with in my area, but guess it's not to be. If you are in the Kansas City area, email me. I am a new widow, and find it lonely out here in this big old world!

I would love an email buddy, and I tried to email Kittenkat, but no email addy. I don't want to post my email address on the internet since it is my only email account. I don't get any spam and want to keep it that way. I tried opening a second account, but couldn't make it work.
