I'm so bummed...do you entertain in your gardens?
Comments (9)I recently held a baby shower in my gardens and had nothing blooming but my annuals in pots....and they never look fabulous until about a week after the fourth....we also yearly have a large 4rth party and my pots then look decent tho not the best yet, but my gardens are always just green like yours with loads of buds..about a week or two after the fourth the garden and pots will be a blooming heaven....and it is disappointing, but that is the life of a garden I guess..I still enjoy it and as irritating as it is....I don't do it for anyone but my own family and myself...so I TRY to remind myself that when I wonder why it can't bloom earlier...tho I think this year there is a good chance it will be blooming on the fourth, things are a bit early this year and I have tons of buds that won't wait that long this year I think...We do many lunches and evening marshmellow roasts for just us that we enjoy the gardens and we often eat breakfast on weekends..in fact most...outside and enjoy the quiet mornings and the birds...so as long as we get enjoyment from the gardens I think it is all worth the work....just try to remember..that even the green and the texture is pretty and lush..not just blooms...if I had to quess I would venture that many guests will still tell you what a lovely yard you have....See MoreDo you have a home entertainment system?
Comments (4)1. 5 speakers for the main system in a 5.1 channel arrangement. Why do I do this over the 7.1 channel? There is so little media available to use 7.1 channel vs. the more entrenched 5.1 DVD/SACD media being produced. 2. There can be no benchmark price for audio, do to the wide field of manufacturers. Current system, I have not yet fully purchased or installed...will cost $4k+ for just the "main" audio listening room, not the whole house package. 3. Inwalls should be rectangles, ceiling spkr.'s should be round traditionally. Ceiling spkr.'s should be 8" for better sound reproduction where applicable, and the same for in-wall using 8" woofers. JMHO 4. Cutting is easy and can be done later, if you've pre-wired, and yes I'm doing it all myself. I am also building in "speaker boxes" with full 3/4 screwed & caulked and using acoustical speaker foam packing. Each in-wall/in-ceiling cabinet's internal vol. properly calculated for the speaker. This elimnates the sound moving so freely to other rooms as annoying rumble, and improves the sound quality where it's needed overall. 5. Two story, yes. 6. Full, yes....See MoreWhat to do with this custom entertainment unit - pic heavy
Comments (34)I have a post on here asking about my office color. And your hooker piece is EXACTLY the one I am eyeing for my office..... in the same color way. Have you seen it IRL? It's not a solid black. It's rubbed with some reds and bronzes, etc. It's really beautiful, so those who suggested the rub have a great idea. That's the beauty of hooker... they do several "layers" and their pieces have so much dimension. I love the piece your hubby made. It's beautiful! I wish he could whip one up for me, too. :o) ha, ha. I vote for painting it like hooker. If you get the doors faux finished with the brown on the doors, that will pull in your leather sectional. And the black really doesn't look like a black hole IRL. Your photoshopped hooker piece isn't doing it justice. Seriously jaw-dropping in person. So I vote for the black. I do see you are thinking espresso, and that would look good. But if you don't FLIP over the espresso, please consider the black rub. Have your painter do a few colors dry brushed onto the black. I think you'll love it!! :o)...See MoreDo you have pictures of tv's not in built ins or entertainment...
Comments (22)Sorry I thought I responded earlier but I guess the post didn't submit. Ajsmama: I actually purchased this sideboard/buffet off of CL. I had to drive about 45 minutes to get it and my husband attached it to the top of my Mazda Protege (which I am sure was not legal! LOL) but I loved it so much, it was priced great and I really wanted it for the TV. It could use a refinish but I will get to it when life slows down (LOL). My TV is 42 inches across and the buffet is a bang on 60 inches. Lowspark: I actually don't know much about it. I believe it to be Duncan Phyfe style but there are no markings on it. I believe it to be old but not antique. Do you know any info on your piece - would love to see it!...See MoreWhitelacey
