What do you for entertainment

I was curious about what the rest of you do when you are alone at home. I do movies, read, work jigsaw puzzles and play with this machine. I just finished watching Sense and Sensibility with Kate Winslet and Alan Rickman. It is a very good movie, I have watched it several times. I love the horses with their heads held high as if they are proud of themselves. Of course the manners and the use of the English language. Very nice and I was in tears at the end. I used to not be affected that way. I have a lot of series and recently bought the Harry Potter series. I liked the first 3 seasons, but it got a little dark after that. I was told it was because of a new director. I just acquired Percy Jackson and the Olmpians, The Lightening Thief and the second one, Seas Monsters. I love the cast in it and especially the first half hour when Percy found out he was the son of a god of the sea called Posidian and a normal woman. Very good.

I also have a lot of puzzles and a puzzle board which sits on a table you can tilt. Really saves on your back.

This has become an issue for me. I have been out of my marriage for seven months, now. My ex and I used to go hiking at the State park near our cabin. We are selling the cabin and it's too painful for me to continue to visit there on weekends. Even hiking in that area is too painful. I've tried hiking in a park in my county, but it's a pretty boring place.

Instead of looking forward to weekends, I am dreading them.

Good morning, Emma. I have plenty to do! I am raising my grandson, who's 12, and my stepson lives with me - he's 23. I do whatever has to be done, every day, then work in my huge yard, play on the computer or read.

I have two small dogs and a cat who require my attention, plus a big house that needs attention. There aren't many empty minutes in my house! At age 63, I rest a lot!!!

Hi Emma - have you watched "Something's Gotta Give" ? kayjones - I know you are busy! Hope the stepson is a lot of help to you. Wish I had a cat or two, but we are charged $40 per month for each pet in this apartment complex! My time is spent learning on the computer, cooking, building putz houses, reading (novels, mysteries, poetry), crossword puzzles, signing petitions against farm factories and writing politicians for changes in the laws.

I recently held a baby shower in my gardens and had nothing blooming but my annuals in pots....and they never look fabulous until about a week after the fourth....we also yearly have a large 4rth party and my pots then look decent tho not the best yet, but my gardens are always just green like yours with loads of buds..about a week or two after the fourth the garden and pots will be a blooming heaven....and it is disappointing, but that is the life of a garden I guess..I still enjoy it and as irritating as it is....I don't do it for anyone but my own family and myself...so I TRY to remind myself that when I wonder why it can't bloom earlier...tho I think this year there is a good chance it will be blooming on the fourth, things are a bit early this year and I have tons of buds that won't wait that long this year I think...We do many lunches and evening marshmellow roasts for just us that we enjoy the gardens and we often eat breakfast on weekends..in fact most...outside and enjoy the quiet mornings and the birds...so as long as we get enjoyment from the gardens I think it is all worth the work....just try to remember..that even the green and the texture is pretty and lush..not just blooms...if I had to quess I would venture that many guests will still tell you what a lovely yard you have.

Entertainment center -- what to do with it?

I don't have a room in my house large enough to accomodate these large entertainment centers, but if I did, I would grab them up in a heartbeat, even if I had to redo/add-to the shelving. If I had huge rooms here is what I would do: *Mudroom storage for gloves, coats, shoes, boots, sports equipment, cleaning supplies, etc. *Freestanding pantry *Clothing storage in bedroom *Linen storage/closet *Playroom storage if I had kids at home *Pretty garage storage *Potting shed for garage *Pretty basement storage *Craftroom/sewing organization Again these idea only work with the proper space (which I don't have) but many folks have more room than they know what to do with and are looking for the elusive organization ideas. Some of these are pretty in their original finish, but since most are practically being given away, what a great opportunity to get creative with different paint and faux finish ideas. Sigh! Sure would love to have the space.

First, please move your sofa forward, toward the tv, close to the fireplace. I would move the other sofa forward toward the fireplace, to almost touch it. Lamp on either end on end tables. Putting a lamp in the corner is of no use. I don't know your particular situation, but I had a dog and 2 young boys at one time and no lamp was ever tipped over. You can keep your furniture as spread out and with as few lamps and tables as you want, but it is going to feel not welcoming with no lights and no place to set a drink. I would concentrate next on getting chairs. Before you do that, draw a to-scale floor plan to ensure you are purchasing the correct size chairs.

I guess we are the outliers here—- we managed to entertain several times during the pandemic with an elaborate system of testing and quarantining, and since we’ve been vaccinated have had golf weekends, family weekends, two dinner parties and have been to others homes several times for cookouts and brunches. i could not WAIT to get back to our normal life. i continued to sing with pur choral society from last September (specially made singers’ masks, 10 feet apart, small sectional rehearsals, streaming and outdoor concerts until our last, in person one with an orchestra in May!) and not one singer contracted Covid. We ate outside on the terrace at the golf club once a week as the kitchen and wait staff were tested weekly. Our street had fortnightly outdoor cocktail parties, westher permitting, and we celebrated birthdays, had a Halloween party and several Christmas events all outdoors. We are finally back to church and i have to say that finally receiving the Host from a priest’s hands almost brought me to tears. There are a scant handful of restaurants in our small town that I like, certainly nothing resembling fine dining—they are all very casual. Virtually all our entertaining is done at home or at the golf club whether casual or formal.

Read, watch tv/movies, play with my dog, clean, take walks, go to the gym, etc. I second reading Harry Potter even if you have already watched the movies. No comparison--the books are terrific--classics really.

I read, play with my parrot, watch movies and TV in the evenings. I'm retired, so I go out to lunch every day to get out of the house.

This weekend, I went to the campus art museum, which was nice. Today I have to go to my old house and pack. I'm moving in a couple of weeks. Terrified but excited at the same time.

I actually went on a date with a guy two weeks ago (I usually date women) but he wanted to kiss on the first date, which I don't do. He avoided me ever since but finally began speaking to me again the other day. I think I need to stay out of the dating pool for a while, LOL. Too danged confusing, plus I'm just not ready.

Usually too much to do just working, cooking, cleaning, shopping. Whatever remains is spent online in forums -- gardenweb, macrumors, bimmerfest. I used to like movies but lost interest in them a few years ago, and I don't own a TV.

I make pottery and draw a bit, i have pets, garden, read, bake, go to the beach, watch the sunset at the park, watch the birds...i've never been married and don't get bored often either.
