It depends on exactly where they are too big, and how it shows.

Sometimes you can take in the center back seam.

It sounds like they are too big through the lower seat and thighs, though. It's hard to tell without a picture. But you can try this:

Turn the pant inside out. Take apart the crotch seam, front to back, from an inch in front of the inseams, to about four inches back from the inseam. Take apart the inseam from the knee to the crotch.

Mark a new stitching line on the back leg only. It will be at the original seam line at the knee, and taper so that at the crotch, the leg is 3/4 inch narrower than before. Stitch the leg seams, then sew the crotch back together.

I need the fullness over the tummy but don't have the nice rear that I used to have. Somehow, it has all dropped. I have lost weight but in the wrong places. That happens you know. Thanks again.
