Drapery lining question

Hello, I'm a visitor from the gardening forums, and I was hoping someone could help.

I am getting ready to make silk draperies, and I am trying to decide on fabric for lining.

I can't tell the difference between the types of linings, other than some are a tiny bit heavier than others, and some have more polyester than others, and some are white and some are beige. And I can't believe how expensive they are! 5 to 8 dollars a yard! That's more than some of the drapery fabrics!

I was thinking of just buying the cheapest no-iron flat sheets I could find and using a twin flat to cut and sew as backing for each panel, because the sheet fabrics I have seen look a lot nicer than even the most expensive drapery lining. Good idea? Bad idea?

Any advice would be appreciated.
