Go to your library and get the Singer sewing for the home books.It's pretty easy,but it isn't your only option.There's the envelope opening and several others that don't require a zipper,but are still removeable for washing.Check it out.

I have not done a zipper AND piping on a pillow, but it seems to me that your pillow would not be reversible as the zipper would show on one side. I have done piping with an envelope or over-lapping opening. You baste your piping to one side(doesn't matter which), then sew the sides together following the basting so you won't sew over the piping edge.
If you are only going to show one side of the pillow anyway, you could baste your piping to one side, then add your zipper. I hope this makes sense. I can picture it in my head, but don't know exactly how to phrase it.
