Baptism gown from wedding gown

I have a wedding gown that I was asked to turn into a baptism gown. I spent 1 1/2 hours yesterday laying out the fabric, re-arranging the pieces and altering the pattern to work on the dress. I figured it out and made the big cuts.

My only issue is the hem. The hem has beautifu embroidery that the mom and I both wanted to keep. She wanted the train part to go on the front of the baby's gown. Imade it work but b/c the train hem is so curved, I couldn't made a straight hem. The front is actually about 5-6" longer then the back. Is this a problem? What else could I have done? I figured the baby isn't walking, so the hem might not get noticed anyway.

Any help?
