Baby-Loc Users

I have a problem with my Baby-Loc machine. Each first time it starts to sew, the needle enters the fabric then makes a terrible kind of grinding sound. I shut it down, turn it back on, and then it is fine. It almost seems as if the needle is too dull, or the fabric is too thick, but nether of these is the issue. And it happens only when I first BEGIN to sew. Anyone else encounter this?

Sounds like the timing is off, to me. Do you know a really good repairperson, one that would offer an opinion about whether s/he should see it or not?

My serger had a grinding noise - - it was FILTHY inside, and one of the knives was really dull. A visit to Mr. Repairman took care of both.
