Is that what they do at the girls' school--wear poodle skirts on the 50th day?

This was something new they did this year. Dress in the 50's for the 50th day of school.

I don't think those a real saddle oxfords. Last I heard Grandmother was looking for white leather Keds (or canvas if not leather) at the thrift stores & plans were to color in the black with a giant sharpie. Daddy may have been the shoe artist. This deal was a family affair for sure.

The skirts sure bring back memories. Have a pic of my niece as a toddler in a pink one I made for her to wear during Christmas holidays...but instead of a poodle I added Santa's sleigh filled with pkgs pulled by reindeer with gold cord harness 'n reins and tiny bells. I worked half a day to make a wee doll to sit on highest package.

I'd post it but don't just have the patience to try again!

Those are absolutely adorable - girls and outfits both!

I'm guessing the same thing about the shoes - I dressed 50s for Halloween this year at school and could not find saddle shoes ANYwhere. I ended up with little $5 white tennis shoes, which work very well even not painted. (Mom said that they wore those little shoes all the time in the 50s when I was born.)
