Advice on Nelco machine

I have a Nelco 4102 sewing machine. I bought it a LONG time ago with the intention of learning how to sew, but never did. I'd like to learn now, but am missing the pedal/power cord. I'm not sure if I should even bother getting another one because I have no idea if the Nelco is a good machine. I wonder if it would be better just to get a new machine. Anyone know about Nelco machines?

How long ago? To me an old sewing machine is 50 or older. If it's that old, I might be able to offer you some advice on replacing the cord. Even if it's 30 or 40, I might be able to help you out. I don't sell sewing machine parts, but I collect old sewing machines and belong to many collector groups. Can you possibly post some pictures so I can take a look at it?
