Hi, I hope you don't mind a lurker question about placemats. I don't do much sewing besides quilting, but I want to branch out. I have some leftover drapery fabric that I want to make into placemats. I want to put a decorative stitch around the edge. Because of the bulk, do you think a 1/4 inch seam would be wide enough? I just don't want the bulk to interfere with the decorative stitching. I'd appreciate any feedback or tips...

I'd try on a scrap, fold it so you have a 4 layer section to mimic the seam allowances you'll be sewing through. I personally would use a 1/2" SA that should be plenty so your foot lays nice & flat. Hope they turn out nice for you!

Thank you... I will try that tomorrow!
