Thanks. I inquired about the cost to have it done at a shop and they charge $14.98 plus tax. I have a sewing machine so I am hoping to save some money. It doesn't look too complicated.

It isn't complicated. I charge more than that, even to do it. Be sure your machine chugs s-l-o-w-l-y through the double thickness of seams at the sides and inseams. Be sure to finish the seams with serging or zig=zag or Fray-check.

Mai Lynn the things that helps the most when hemming jeans is a hammer, a block of wood. It's a trick an old Italian tailor taught me when I was learning alterations 30 years ago. Once I've pressed the hem up I pound the seams with a hammer putting the block of wood under as not to damage my sewing table. I have a tool called a Jean-a-ma-jig (I think I purchased fron Clotilde or Nancy's Notions) that you place in front of the presser foot and then behind the presser foot when sewing over the seams. Works like a charm.
