| My decades old favorite medium weight silk knit top has self binding that is continuing to detach. I have repaired it in the past, but am now thinking major surgery is needed. This garment is short sleeved, so cannot 'harvest' self fabric.
The only solution that I thought would work is to stay stitch the neckline edge with a small zigzag, remove the neck band, serge, fold under and stitch the edge twice...then maybe silk embroider all around. I have done this before when shortening sleeves on another silk top, but never for a neckline. Though I sew "new" for others, I enjoy keeping my faves as long as possible. |

| Perhaps you might find a nice binding/trim that goes w/ the top & replace (or cover) the old binding w/ that? |
