OK Sharon try this with some other pants that area ready to toss. Cut 4" below the zipper. Sew the bottom as usual then stand it up with the seam on the table. Form it with your hand and see if there is NOW enough room for the bottom piece you will add. Sounds like you cut-yourself-short!! Something else you can do tho. On the 2 you messed up on......open up the seam and add a piece of fabric from the leg of the jean, a rectangular piece , which you will now make 2 bottom seams, making the purse sit flat, then add that flat piece. The bottom piece will not be totally rectangular tho, as you will have to taper the corners. let us know, Salena

HA HA Selena! Go figure..I've been coming up short my entire life!! It all makes sense now..will cut at a 4" length below the zipper. As for the 2 pr I messed up? I get what you're saying BUT..where I cut the inch below the zipper-it left even an even shorter amount directly UNDER the zipper area-that's what screwed me up when trying to cut a rectangle to fit in the bottom. Gonna ditch those, methinks. Thanks for taking time to help this dumb rookie!!
