I don't know anything about the specific machine, but I would certainly trust Brother and Brother dealers more than Internet sellers. If the company and the dealers say it will do what you want, go for it! If they say it won't, believe them and look for another machine.

As was explained to me by a fellow sewing machine enthusiast, that machine has a lot of plastic inner parts and the metal "frame" sits on plastic vanes inside which break when stressed at all. I wouldn't use a machine like that for more than light piecing or very light home dec.

Now, a TRULY fabulous machine is the Brother PC 420. It has a amazing features and is really strong.... scour the internet and you'll be hard pressed to find a negative review. I've had mine almost a year now, and no problems, though truth be told, if I do heavy sewing it's on my all metal 1950's straight stitch only machine, also a Brother.... I wouldn't want to even risk damaging an expensive machine even though I'm confident it could handle it! Good luck, let us know what you decide.

If you're sewing leases and collars, you should probably be looking at an industrial walking foot. One of my home machines is an older Pfaff 1222, which is very heavy duty, yet would struggle, if sewn thru that stuff at all, whereas my industrial goes thru it like it was a piece of paper.
