I'm looking to make banded curtains like this:

I have white panels for the main field and then will be adding red along the bottom. I managed to get a pair of red panels on clearance, so I just need to cut off 2' of the bottom of the red and attach it to the white panels I already have.

So here's my question: Should I cut 2' off the bottom of the white panels and then sew the red on to the cut bottom of the white? Or should I just sew the red portion on TOP of the bottom 2' of the white panel?

If I go with #1, how should I stitch them together? Sew them inside-out like you would a pillowcase? Or fold the cut edge of the red under and sew across in red thread?
