Scarves? rolled edge?

I'm thinking of trying to make some scarves for this winter out of light weight wool - mainly to keep my neck warm at work. I find if my neck stays warm then I feel warm. LOL!

One nice Burberry scarf I have has long fringe on the narrow ends and a single line of stitching on the length sides to prevent the raw edge from unraveling. I have thought about making a hand rolled edge finish but this could be time consuming for a very long scarf.

Anyone have any tips or pointers in finishing off scarves? I have a serger too if that could be used. Know of any tutorials on the web? Any good sources of nice fabrics for wool or linen scarf fabric? Fleece is easy but a bit bulky except for really cold weather.

Thanks for any help!

Teresa
