Singer 328k has no slow speed

Hi! I just bought a Singer 328k on ebay, and had it serviced. It's in fine shape, except that the tech wrote that the control foot has no slow speed and is "worn".

Is this something that I could fix by replacing the control foot myself? It's wired into the motor case, I think. Right now, the machine has two settings - fast and super fast. Which is great, but perhaps a way to go slower would help. :)

For those slow times needed don't use the petal, just turn the 'wheel' toward you (counterclockwise)for easy control.
