Is there a type of thread that is universal?

I am not sure if my machine was threaded incorrectly, or if it was the thread. The material is a very light cotton (its actually weird, almost paper like) and I was using polyester thread the bottom thread was loops! I put in my all purpose and all was fine.

I use coats & clark mostly and have never had a problem.Guitterman, and some of the others are also good.My advice is to stay away from that real cheap (5/1.00) type stuff. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for!!

RE: thread or machine

Yes you sure do, thanks for the advise.
