Singer 221 Trouble

HI,

I have a old singer, I am pretty sure it is a 221. Last time I used it was with some help, when my grandmother was alive.

I threaded it, and checked it against a threading diagram I found. What happens is when I have the needle threaded, and I turn it forward, the needle goes down, picks up the lower thread, but then the thread from the top gets caught some how on the the lower bobbin, if I keep moving forward, it breaks the thread off the needle. I've tried it numerous times, including taking out the lower bobbin, and reloading it to make sure it is in place. Last time I used it, it was working well and I have no reason to believe it was damaged. I highly suspect it is a user error on my part, but am at a loss as to what I am doing wrong.

Thanks for any suggestions. I can post photos if that would be helpful, let me know.

Thanks again,

Jamie Dolan
