trying to find cost of Bernina 640

I am starting to think buying a sewing machine such as the Bernina 640 with Stitch regulator is like buying a car. I can not for the life of me find a price on line. My local dealer wants me to come in. Why can they tell me a price? I just want to know is it $3000.00 or $6000.00 or what ?

I dont need the embroidery features but I would like to compare machines and prices. What's the deal? Can anyone give me a ball park figure? I would be so grateful.
