I notice that you haven't gotton an answer yet so thought I'd throw this out. I haven't a clue myself, but if you post this on the Trash to Treasure forum I bet you get tons of answers. There are some very creative people over there.

I have a bunch of decorator sample books like the ones you describe.

My grandchildren love to cuddle with soft and/or fuzzy textured blankets. I cut out all the silk, flocked, satin, shiney, fuzzy samples in greens, reds and golds. I squared them up, fit them together and made a patchwork quilt. I backed it with some old burgundy velvet from my stash and tied (rather than quilted) the layers together.

The grands love the textures and it cost me nothing.

I also made some bottle bags from the larger pieces when giving wines for Christmas gifts.

Have you thought of making a purse out of the scraps or a reusable grocery bag?

I make all of my purses and I think it would be cool to sew fabrics of the same color together and then cut out the pattern. The sky is the limit.

Lunch Bag

I was thinking tote bags & pillows too - an old friend once made a very cool bag using leather swatches & strips of fabric to create a windowpane effect.

Little sachets might be good as well....
