I like the two-sided tape, Wonder Tape. You can sew through it w/o gumming up your needle, & it washes away in the laundry. It also applies really easily. And you can just overlay the lace on the edge of the fabric if it has pretty edges, which most laces do.

I've found that in spots where it's sewn through, it doesn't always wash out completely, but it generally isn't a problem for me, it's almost clear and not stiff or anything. (I also can usually pull the tape off after a washing if it's sewn in place).

It has gotten more expensive unfortunately so I try to buy a couple when the local fabric store runs their half off notions sale.

Steam a Seam would work too but if you're going to wash them occasionally you'll probably want to sew the lace down to be sure. It's nice you're using the trim up, they used to make some really nice laces we don't see as much now.
