Singer Touch & Sew 603: How do I reattach the slide plate?

Posted by bayareafrancy (My Page) on

Hi all,

My son managed to loosen/remove the slide plate from the machine (I think he was sliding it back and forth too fast--one side came loose, and then the other side).

How do I reattach it? I can lift the clip to get one side hooked on, but I can't lift the clip enough to get the other side on. Do I actually need to unscrew the clip from the machine, then put the plate on the clip, then screw the clip back on?

Thank you!

I use the tiny screwdriver that came with my machine. Slide one side onto the clip and then use the screwdriver to pry up the other side of the clip and slide the other side of the plate on. I usually have to fiddle with it a little to get it on.
Hope this helps!

Thank you! That is exactly what I finally managed to do, but I was nervous about how far I had to lift one side in order to get it on (thought I'd break it). I couldn't figure out how to get the actual clip off, though it appears to be removable.
