CURTAIN is the correct spelling. I do know the difference but apparently had a senior moment!

when I worked in a drapery workroom all puddled drapes were fully lined, so the lining puddles too. If you stop the lining at the floor line, they may not puddle right, ie, be too flimsy.

My old boss wouldn't even answer if we asked about curtains, lol They are DRAPES we're making she'd say.

And this trend has been around forever. I have awful memories of a huge job we did, tall windows, silk fabric, lined, then interlined w/flannel, designer sent them back numerous times even though they were made exactly to order, boy were they heavy to install, uninstall, remake, etc. They puddled in huge puddles, at least 30". I think we remade them 3 times. Hope your project goes better!

I usually call them DRAPES as well but someone corrected me once saying that the correct term is DRAPERY unless it's gathered on a rod in which case it's a CURTAIN. It's an argument I stay out of, LOL!

My concern, too, is they won't hang correctly if they're not lined full length but I wanted a consensus of more experienced opinions. And weight is also a concern because they will be velvet, also with an interlining, but inside mounted with a puddle on the deep window sill so I also hope my project goes better than yours. Needless to say, I'm going to experiment with a mock panel before I jump into this.
