tips on binding aggravating corners

Don't sew so much any more & need SIMPLE tips to do 45 degree corners on baby blanket binding...
don't those stop & starts make the finished edge look kinda tacky?

Forget hand sewing; finger cramps from holding fabric & needle totally prevent such...just sewing on a button
is a big chore.

Sewing methods that once came easy elude me. Yeah, my brain is older but mini-stroke probably didn't help.

Suzi,
See if the below site helps.
The Start and Stops make sure needle down in fabric, helps prevent the skipped stitch look.
No stroke here but forget the special places I have put things..
Hoping others have more input.

If you don't want to sew 45 degree corners then round the corners and sew without the 45 degree corners. It makes just as nice a blanket. No one ever said that baby blanket corners must have a miter. It's just one way to do it. I've seen knitted or crochet baby blankets that take dozens of different shapes and they are all baby blankets

I've been practicing binding, and I'm finally starting to get the corners to look fairly decent. I basically do what is shown in the link provided by Patti. For any type of corner, I think you would just make a fold as you go around the corner. It takes practice (at least for me).

This is an example of a 90 degree corner - I just do the same type of thing with a 45 degree corner. Please excuse my quirky material choice ; ) (I'm into quirky materials...) And, you might not see the fold very well, I tried to get a good photo...:

Also, for a laugh, I took a photo of all the potholders I've been doing. Can you say 'mass production'? lol You don't even want to see my earlier binding attempts...

Good luck - practice.
