If you buy anything sewing-related at your local Wal-Mart (or wish you could!), call 1-800-WAL-MART.

I had an interesting conversation with the fabrics dept clerk at our local Wal-Mart. Our store had a nice fabric and crafts department until they remodeled a couple of years ago. They downsized fabrics and notions, moved the crafts area away from the sewing area (STUPID!), and were in the process of getting rid of the needlework (which they finally did, two months ago). After the remodel, those of us who were disgruntled over the downsizing of fabrics, have phoned that number and complained.

Now our store is in permit-process for upgrading from regular WalMart to Super WalMart. In discussion again is getting rid of the fabric department. So we're all ready to call the number again. I'm planning to do so today.

The clerk suggested that nationally, folks who have lost their fabric department should complain anyway - long, loud, and clear! And be sure to SPEND some money in your store's fabric department if you DO still have one. All the complaining in the world will not help if the $sales don't show that we want fabric departments and fabric stores.
