With the New Years sales at Joann's and other stores, did anyone find anything that they really liked and couldn't wait to sew?

I did - at my Joann's, they had a "50% off rack". There was a beautiful embroidered piece of cotton - brown - the embroidery was peach flowers with little turquoise sequins. I don't mind telling you that this was on their "discount fabrics" table where you have to watch everything carefully. It was labeled $5/yard. I decided to take 2 yards for a skirt.

The woman went to ring it up at $5 yard, but I pointed out the sign that all red-tagged items were 50% off. She said that the sale had ended last week, but said she'd honor the sign price and give it to me at $2.50/yard. Same with the navy blue knit that I needed 2 yards of, but she took the sign down.

I whipped out the skirt yesterday - it turned out lovely. Then I found a coordinating top for it at Kohl's.....for $2.49!!! I couldn't make a top for that!!!
