Flannel in oven mitts

Hello
I have heard some people are now or have been using flannel as a lining in oven mitts. Cotton lining is what I have always been told to you. Is using flannel just a change or does it hold the heat in some? Is it used instead of cotton batting? Puzzled. thank you.

I use the heat resistant fabric to do any hot plates or mitts, sold at most fabric stores.think this is a sulky site

Here is a link that might be useful: stabilizers for hot pots
