Help with waist alteration

Posted by Jimmi (My Page) on

The waist is too big in every pair of ladies pants I buy. Most of the pants do not have a centerback seam for alteration. I tried to cut through the waistband and then take the material in by gradually tapering from just above the hips to the waistband. When I do this, it looks fine. BUT when I try this on, there is a bulge just below the waistband. What am I doing wrong or is there an easier way. Thanks so much.

RE: Help with waist alteration

do you mean the waistband has no center back seam? you can easily create one after you detach the back waistband from the trousers. you can cut in a taper and also make the waistband smaller. then your alterations should be easier. and when you re-attach the waistband it won't look at all altered.
