Advice on purchase of new sewing machine

Well, you all have helped me in the past and I need your help again. I need to buy a new sewing machine. My old machine quit last night and I'm in the middle of a large drapery project. I have just picked up sewing again after many years and do not know which machine to buy. I need a machine that will expertly handle pinch pleated draperies and other home decorating projects. Since I have purchased expensive designer fabric, I need to make sure that the machine is up to the task. I'd appreciate your advice. Thanks!

I would not personally buy a Brother again. I bought one from HSN and it quickly went out of alignment. I recently bought a Baby Lock, like what Sewing with Nancy uses. I paid $500 for it and it has all the features as a $1500 Bernina at a class I took. It is a sturdy machine with several types of stitches and I am very pleased with the quality. I bought the Crafter's Choice, about halfway up the line for Baby Lock. Hope this helps.
