I used to do a lot of this. You want very absorbent paper so copy paper won't be so good. I tried everything but the best and cheapest was old paperback books. Not the fancy kind by university presses but cheap books which many people are all too happy to give away. Just spread the word among your friends and groups you belong to. I put each flower in a Kleenex-type tissue to avoid ink bleed and could stuff quite a few flowers in each book. Then make sure they are weighted down with anything heavy--rocks, big books, whatever. Worked like a charm and cost nothing except the Kleenex. A fun project for you and the kids and you really can make beautiful pictures.

Hi Kim, I bought something just like those at my local walmart this year, they were actually supposed to be gift tags. They have all ifferent shapes and colors, right? I picked them up and have them stored in the fridge until I figure out what I'm going to do with them. I can check and let you know where there made if you'd like. Lisa

Honestly, every paper I have tried has smeared or gotten blurry at least a little, even after spraying with a few light coats of Krylon. I used a decoupage medium on top. But I just worked with the look and added a crackle finish or antique glaze over top so it looked old & worn. For best decoupage resultw use a thinner paper than photo paper. It makes a flatter surface & is easier to cut. Regular copy paper should work fine.

To educate yourself, I suggest you Google something like "how to waterproof a steam shower." When I entered that, one of the FIRST things I read was not to use tar paper but to use a product like Kerdi, Laticrete, Noble, etc. and there are knock offs of these products as well. Even if he does what he says, from what I understand, there should still be a water proofing membrane under the tile. There are even YouTube videoes of the process, and, of course, plenty of information here in the archives - easier to access through Google than through the search feature here. There is a really good online forum for tiling but the system won't let me post it - initials JB
