We had the same problem for years. We have a group of seven couples (all close in age). We would take trips together once every year or so but during the year we would take turns hosting a monthly dinner. Of course this always necessitated a hostess gift. All of us are comfortably off and at our age have everything (material) that we want or need. It drove me crazy because I was constantly being gifted with craft type items. I am just not into cutesy things and I had a difficult time coming up with items that I thought the other ladies would enjoy or use. I failingly ended up giving food items or fresh flowers. We all finally came to a consensus that we should stop doing hostess gifts and at Christmas put funds together to donate to a charity. Thank goodness! The pressure every month is off and we can give to those in need. It's a win/win.

This thread has been so helpful, thanks all! It led me to look for a dollhouse for my great-niece. In a strange turn of events, though, I found two houses that *I* want … as in, to actually live in. The first house I found has a working elevator, party patio, hot tub, potting shed, and third story telescope room. Party patio with lights: Built-in potting shed … heaven: Hot tub … I’ll get different towels: Thank goodness she checked with Design Dilemma first and didn’t make the fatal decision to put a mirror over the mantel: It really works? This is the Travelon purse my sister and I both have. It is called a mini, but by my standards it is a normal size purse. I have altered the strap to make it longer (remove the slides so that it isn’t adjustable). I wear it attached to the side of my bra hanging under my arm or attach it to a belt loop and then flip it inside my pants. It is NOT big enough for a passport.

DD and SIL gave us a Nixplay digital frame for Christmas. ☹️ The longest setting for a photo to display is one hour. I would prefer to keep a photo up for a week or two—- at least a day. It had access to all my photos, which I had to restrict bc I was seeing photos of QR codes for Amazen returns, event tickets, faucet drips, etc. The process of going through thousands of pictures to select just those I want to see is counterproductive because if i do that, I HAVE seen them. The kids can upload pictures to it, but I’d rather get those straight to my phone. In the bedroom it is far too bright at night and I haven’t played around with the app to see if it can dim on a timer. I guess I feel that if it is really a ”smart” frame it would know to sleep at night! I just don’t like it. Or them, this is the second one we’ve had.
