New Scrapper needs help!?!?!?

I have just decided that I want to start scapping! My first question is which type of album do I get? I know a lady who has a home based business, her albums start at $38, which I thought was a little high! Are the albums that you purchase in the scrapebook stores good? Is there much difference? What type is the best, the 3 ring binder type, or the 3 holed screw type?? I have NO clue!!

I'm a little hesitant about getting started, I'm not creative at all, and would like to keep it simple!

About a year ago, I got into "stamping" and did lots and lots of cards, so I have a alot of the same materials (like punches, etc.) I would need to do the scrapbooks!

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreicated!!!

Scrapbooking is awsome! It is my release once a month from my husband and two young kids. I personally love the home based business albums and that is all I will use. They are a little more pricey but are well worth it. THey look better and hold up better. and think of all the time and memories you are putting into them - aren't they worth it? I have heard many comments from those who have used home based business and tried the other albums and haven't been as happy with them. If its too expensive to start then just buy the refill pages and start with those first and buy the album on a month when you don't have as much to buy and insert the pages.

You don't have to buy every thing at once. Just pick up and adhesive of some sort, a black scrapbooking pen, some key colors of paper, stickers, and die cuts if you want them and go to it. It is the best thing I've ever done. I have done my wedding album and one of my sons first year albums. I love it!!!!

You can buy scrap books at WalMart's Michael's and I am sure many other stores.

I have a Winnie the Pooh "Baby's First Year" calendar that sounds like what you are trying to put together, only mine didn't have the scrapbook side to it. I loved this calendar and it was my baby "bible" for the first year. I often refer to it when my friends/family ask me " . . .when did she . . ." I have an easy reference. Anyhow, at the top of each monthly page it has the following: height, weight, baby's sleeping pattern, baby's eating pattern, and notes with spaces to write in a sentence or two about baby's advances that month. Also included were stickers: first bath first smile religious ceremony sleeps through night first tooth first word says mama says dada first solid food feeds self first Christmas doctor's visit (several of these) It would be cute if you could include some stickers that illustrated these events that she could stick on the days on which they occurred (doctor's bag or stethescope-doctor's visit, spoon or bowl-first solid food, smiley face-first smile, etc.) Sounds like a cute and very thoughtful gift! Most of the paint companies have tools where you can upload a photo and then paint it different colors. Why don't you try that? Also, your house would look great in a number of colors. I think you have to narrow it down. Do you want something muted, or bright? Cool tones or warm? Do you like reds or blues or greens or yellows? What is the style of other houses in your neighborhood? Do you like your current color or hate it?

Home Interiors & Jodie White, Sorry guys. I'm new to this. Obviously, i need to create an Ideabook! I tend to go more towards muted brown, red, yellow/gold, rust colors (in past), but open to other somewhat neutral palettes. I actually love the console, but was considering an antique cream color (if I could make that work?). My tastes tend to be traditional, rustic, a little farmhouse (pottery barn, restoration hardware, ballard designs) but with so many current needs, all those in a TIGHT budget! Aktillery9, i do like all of those looks. My husband did just tell me, due to wiring, there is chance we may not be able to mount on flat wall as i hoped, so i may be forced to go back to corner console again. :( When I get a chance, I'll post some of my fav looks.

Very similar to our last home. When the plywood decking was down before flooring went in, I measured and drew island out on the floor and used a large cardboard box to put where the sofa with sofa table would go. Then DH and I marked under the "sofa" for the outlets. Your electrician should do a walk thru with your to discuss outlet and switch location before the rough-in. The large window, is there a view you want to face? Or the other wall of windows, does that open? View? With range wall, island and then table/chairs all in a row, I would want to break up the lines by doing the sofas or sofa/chairs in the opposite direction.

i have been scrapping for almost 9 years and i just started album #59 when i first started CM was all that was available to me so that is what i used but since my divorce ~my ex made good money~ I cant afford those and have been using westrim post bound album ever since i get em at micheals and i love em if i had to choose between them and cm and if they were the same price i would chose westrim but that is my personal opinion

I began scrapbooking 16 years ago when my youngest child was born. It was very difficult to find papers, inks, decorations, everything. I began using books from Wal-mart and they have held up very well over the years. I make 7 family scrapbooks every year as Christmas gifts for my parents, inlaws and special family members. Even the first one I made is still almost like new.
