looking in on the wedding

Was wondering if anyone could help me out here. I would like to do a scrapbook of my parents marriage back in the 50's. Of course all pictures are black and white. What I am thinking of doing is make the page look like you are looking into the church and seeing it. Does anyone have ideas on how to make this happen. I don't even know how it would look, so maybe it isn't something that I would end up doing, but would like to give it a try. I will be doing a 12 x 12. Any ideas appreciated.

I think the best way to do it would be to have your scrapbook shaped like a church. you can leave an opening on one side of the cross positioned on top of your church portrayal. This would be in a book form...there will be very tiny, petite pages all cross bordered for some beautiful sayings.

While you can have the entire church book have pages within with snowflake watermarked pages, you can create these on MS word and print them. Google search for snowflakes, get the image and paste it as a water mark on MS Word and lo! Your pages have a background now. Keep it simple and do not add much yo-yo color to it.

On the first page of the church-shaped book, you can draw a maze with the single picture of your mom minimized to fit in accordingly, using photoshop

Have your dad placed below the maze waiting with a ring in his hand.

It will be more like a seeking game for the twosome on having a look at your craftsmanship.

Followed by this, you can have the outline-cut pictures of the very close guests with a text bubble drawn to mention some funny cute quotes and blessings.

you can also have cotton flakes placed on the paper to indicate snowfall and do not forget to bring in a toy car reading 'just married' with the actual pictures of the twosome.

for your church book, you can have a silky satin pink cloth on the door of the church, which when moved...reads Welcome or something that fancies you. This would be prior to opening the actual book. Lemme know if you like this. And yes, it is also important on how you present this scrapbook. I would suggest you have a personalized tote bag, a handbag with the picture of the gorgeous twosome, the bride and the groom, digitally imprinted on the bag. There are varieties of such. After all presentation does matter. Its captivating, the sight of the marriage album coming in beautiful bags that couples preserve for the lifetime. This would act like a perfect gift of memories and not a mere keepsake.

It's difficult to give recommendations without knowing your zone or seasonal growing conditions, but I would strongly urge you to try growing a variety of annuals and reliably "quick" perennials this year. It sounds like you don't have any gardens in place now, so use this year to experiment and practice. Even if you put in perennials this year for bloom next year, the plants will probably not be what you hope for (depending on your growing conditions). I'm in zone 5, and everything is at least a week early for me this year. My yard is currently flush with forget-me-nots and violets. Bleeding Heart and Primrose are flush with blooms. Centaurea Montana is starting to bloom, as are my earliest bearded iris. My lilacs are just about in full bloom now. Soon I'll have lily of the valley blooming, Dame's Rocket, tons of peonies, ... May is beautiful and very fragrant here! My June-bloomers will be tons more bearded iris and siberian iris, poppies, sweet william, asiatic lilies, matricaria, campanulas, honeysuckle vine, trollius, and so on. Plants with great foliage are beautiful and really light up shady areas -- I love to mix and contrast foliage colors, textures, shapes, and heights. I use a lot of hostas, heucheras, ferns, etc... and it's easy to tuck in annual impatiens to brighten dark spots.

Buy a garland or bush of faux fall leaves, peel them off the plastic veining. Use a gold paint pen or fine point gold marker to write your parents' first names and wedding date on them, and scatter those around the gold pumpkins. Buy inexpensive plain glass votive holders, wrap with a strip of vellum cut to fit around the votive holder (overlap and close with double-faced tape) put a gold votive inside and write their names and wedding date on the vellum, then use the same pen to run a narrow band of gold on the top and bottom of each piece of vellum. Glue a silk leaf (veining removed) to the bottom with Aleene's Tacky glue or hot glue, and scatter a few of those on the tables for candlelight. You might check first to see if those are allowed - some banquet venues are funky about how candles can be used. Congrats to your parents on a wonderful milestone! Your menu also will be influenced by your location and the climate of your area that time of the year. May here in the South can be hot like summer or cool and wet like spring. Will you be inside or outside? I would suggest foods that hold well in chafing dishes but that aren't too heavy: Dijon Chicken over Rice Pilaff or Chicken Chausseur over Rice with fresh herbs or Shrimp Creole over rice; Roasted Vegetables with Carmelized Onions and Fresh Herbs, Pear Caesar Salad, a platter of assorted cheeses with sliced baguettes and crackers, a platter of fresh fruit, wedding cake and ice cream (for that small number not too hard to do). When a good friend got married for the second time, they had a pig pickin' (BBQ pork - very casual) after their home garden wedding and instead of wedding cake, we had lots of different kinds of cakes. But that event had a lot more people than yours. It makes planning easier if you have a theme of sorts: English Garden Party, New Orleans/Seafood fare, Country BBQ, Southern Traditional Foods, etc. Hope this helps. I went to ULTA this morning with the intent of buying a load of makeup / Bare Minerals. I asked someone for help who said those people may not come in until 9. It was 8:45. She looked at the chick in charge, for confirmation, who went on to answer the phone. I walked around and walked out. I was the only one in the store! You know who was helpful? The cosmetic lady at Walgreens. I took my time and bought what I thought I needed and have been playing with makeup all day. The first look was a disaster but the second time was the charm. I feel I can do this for the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. Thank you all for your help, especially reminding me I need to get up and do something NOW! I still may stop by and try the Bare Mineral foundation after the holidays. We'll see.
