Thank you for the feedback! We definitely have plans to make the trim around the windows thicker and painted white. We know shutters aren't technically correct because they would be too small and obviously not functional, but there is just so much beige vinyl we wanted find a way to cover up as much as possible!

First you need to decide how to use the porch. Are you a sit on the front porch type of person? With food or drink? If yes think about adding another seat and some type of table. Is this an area to stand around before coming into the house? If yes your bench is enough, I would consider moving the bench to against the wall to give you more room around the door and color on against the wall. Regardless of how you use the porch put art on both walls. Put colorful pillows on your bench, I like it, colorful pillows will make it stand out more. You might want to consider painting the bench another color to make it stand out. You have a blank slate have fun with the area. Art on the wall can bring in color that plants would, but with fewer limitations, and upkeep.

Calling the front porch design “poor” is nicer than anything I’ve ever said about it! :) I’m painting the house this year and will replace the few areas of bad siding. My thought was to paint the porch overhang and columns the house body color to make it less of a feature. if the steps are on the left side of the porch, there’s less than 3ft between the step and the house so nothing can be planted there. You also look right at my hose spigot that doesn’t have another practical location. The area boxed in in red is where the pavement needs work, I’m not planning on repaving the entire driveway. I don’t need the driveway wider because we usually park in front of the garage. If I leave the stairs in the front, I was going to replace the blue box with pavers, then leave the rest for some plants.
