What type of glue....

What is the best way to adhere pictures, die-cuts, lettering, etc onto memory pages? (If they aren't self-stick, that is) Should I use glue, 2-sided tape, what? I made my first memory page yesterday for a friend who just had a baby, and the glue caused the page to become wrinkly, like it got wet. :o( It did say safe to use. TIA

I use the tape roller from Cre@tive Mem0ries. Sounds like it is too wet with the glue you are using. I used some glue dots last night, and they were pretty good. There are various tapers available, or there's tape in a box that you just pull out.

Hope it works out for you, Nida. Personally, as a slight spin off of Jeff's idea regarding the top dressing pebbles .... Perhaps have one or two "display plants" which have the pebbles in place. Then with the rest of the pots purchased supply a baggy of pebbles for the buyer to sprinkle on top once they get home. That way if a plant should tip, the pebbles won't get lost in the mix. Would the paper cone you mentioned have the potted plant sitting in it or will the cone come from the top of the plant down? Unsure of just how you would be doing this and would be curious to know more. What I have done when shipping plants in pots (not something I do often as it adds weight and can be a pain in the tush) is to tape strips of paper down across the top of the pots to hold the media in place. The strips should overlap and be taped so soil can't escape.

Preserving the construction paper that is far from being acid free is going to be a problem in the long run even after you have reglued it to a more supportive piece. Spray both your construction paper piece and whatever you decide to back it with(an acid free mat board would be great and give a lot of support) with a "make it acid-free" type product, also use an acid free glue usually found in your scrapbooking department of even Wal Mart and any craft store. good luck on your venture!! ginger

Keep forgetting to ask you sharon_fl did you see on the painting fourm where I posted to your post there about useing something stripale to hang the wallpaper liner project in your GD room? I posted that my daughter used vaseline to hang border, taked to her the other day and she said you just have to be carefull and not use to much said she spread it all over the border useing a paper towel, and hopefully get it in the right spot the frist time, when putting up so you dont smear the vaseline, also cleanup any that get on the wall right away, blot with a paper towel and wipe with hot soapy water to remove all oil, said the key is useing a very small amout of the vaseline, would warn aginest useing this over flat paint, would soak up the oil, and stain, I am sure. just thought I would tell you incase you missed it. oddie

You know that solar blankets for pools are made of bubble wrap but in a heavier form. Using a layer of that floating on the top of the water would do a lot to help maintain the temp. We used the solar blankets on our pools with great success. You might check at some pool stores for remnants or old pieces. You would not need a very big piece for that. You can also try using the bubble wrap with the giant bubbles you can buy for packing but it won't last nearly as long. The top on our hot tub, which is long gone now, was a hard shell but inside was filled with the little styrofoam balls like in bean bag chairs. Just a thought... sew up a big old bean bag cover! Thanks all. I'll have to look for some tape this week. I do have some of the dots but wasn't sure if they would hold up for any period of time.

FYI: I faithfully used the tape roller from Cre@tive Mem0ries for a few years. I thought what a great idea. It was easy to use and A friend of mine sold Cre@tive MemOries and swore by it. So I went to a class. At the class we were told that clue sticks etc. would not hold up. So I purchased a bunch of stuff including 1 album and this tape. We used this album and tape to do our wedding pictures. After a few years the scrapbook was falling apart. As well as other scrapbooks I had done using this tape. I thought anything is better than this tape.
Well there is a glue stick made by elmers called
"Craft Bond: acid free extra strength glue stick. goes on blue dries clear."
and
"Zig 2 way glue. Wet bond perminant. Dry bond temporary."
With the 2 way glue you have to work quick so that it does not dry to quickly. I make sure that it is blue before I apply the picture paper to the scrapbook and it stays put. It says that it is temporary when you let it dry clear and it is. So I lay out my page and know where I want everything and work quickly with the glue so the pictures (etc.) stays put. Anyway I redid my pages using the elmers. and using the 2-way glue, mainly for small items, and I have not had a problem since. I have done all my scapbooks with these 2 glues and have not had any problems.
When I first started using the other glues I would get the wrinkled pages also. I learned I just needed to put the glue in the corners and have not had a problem since. Also you might try a hevier paper. They carry some great Heavy weight solid & patterned and design paper at http://www.momandme.com/.
P.S. I had the same problem with the dots as I had with the tape. And I did follow the directions.
