Kgsd- I hear you on paper! That too was my nemesis. I still have a way to go but some ideas are below that may work or could be modified to help you. 1. Coupons I started being super selective about what I keep (like TallySue - BBand Bwyons are the main ones I keep) Here's what I do. I open the mail at the door after home from work. I toss the things I don't want into recycling (I have a trass can right at my entry way hidden behind a chest). Those with coupons I take the page or coupon at that time - pop it into my coupon organizer in my purse and I'm done. 2. Birth invitations, letters I've received, etc. Here's what I started doing with birth invitations and holiday cards and thank you notes. I have a hole punch (mine has a heart because I'm a dork but anyone can do). I put a little hole punch in them and add them to a clip like you use for paint samples. I store them all bound together in a decorative bowl on my coffee table that also houses a few reading materials so I can refer back to them. At the end of the year or when the ring is full I stick them in a photo album (just affix the little ring right around the rings of the photo album). 3. Flyers, ads, brochures, etc. Ads I throw away or go into my coupon thingy - brochures go into an idea album if they are worth it. For to do items to do I have a folder that sits in a my basket in my kitchen. Every night I pick out an item to take care of while I watch Oprah (dorky I know) But it forces me to cross one thing off and move to the next. Other important papers: Anyone heard of life.doc? I got mine at Barnes and Nobles it is for your important docs. I took and set mine up for the important things (will, medical info etc). But I also modified it a bit. You can use the CD for a template that prints out onto the sheets. I jsut took and made sheets for other important things and then printed them out in the same format. I store this in an extra kitchen drawer with our phonebooks. Maybe something modified like this would work for you? www.life.doc I hope maybe some of these ideas work! Laurie

Love the modness of it all - and thanks for showing the beginning of the progress. I was wondering where you got the darling hearts and checked pattern - then looked up through the posts. From your plates! Never thought about using more recent plate patterns - I'm not much into garage sales because my mother was so obsessed with them. (not meant as a dig to anyone who likes them - just that I was recruited to drive her everywhere.) Oh, and I brought a heater into my chilly spare bedroom where I work - that really helped with the cutting. Susan

Which is, btw, part of my point -- these decisions get made, ultimately, in the deep context of background and experiences. In part because the surface-situation of strict cost:benefit analyses are so complex and subject to error. The decision is +/- binary in the end, but the inputs are so complicated.... in the end most of us are moved, consciously or otherwise, with what "feels" right -- we go with how we've been moved by or own stories, the more objective route being blocked. So, for example, my own experiences leave me ultimately feeling that washing, i.e., scrubbing, is cleaner than wiping, which is what happens with towels. It's pretty much a direct result of that eye-opening conversation with an Indian about personal hygiene. As well as seeing those tests that showed sponge and towel cleaning were completely insignificant in terms of resulting sterility; it mattered *how* you used those tools, not which one you used. Christine - you must know I pretty well hang on your every word. Maybe we should start a side-discussion (that pink forum) about our kitchen-cooking motivators. (I too got sick recently from a mayonnaise-based dressing that had been sitting on a table top in Polynesia: honestly, what was I thinking? These experiences negate thousands of little cloth-paper decisions for magical cleanliness insurance. It just takes once.) Ginny20 -- I highly recommend AdBlock Plus! It was recommended to me from someone on this forum. It's a free download and it's just stopped all that nonsense here and elsewhere. Love it... (though I thought paper towels were coming out pretty-ahead this time in this discussion? All the cat innards images amount to a really good data point in that camp to me....)

I have a similar model. You just have to play with it to figure out the margins. The orange "thingy" has the blade. Move it to one end or the other. The ruler-looking part lifts up, allowing you to insert your paper. Adjust the paper, and slide the blade piece across to the opposite end. It does take a few practices. The blade is quite sharp, and remains so fthrough any slices. And, it is easily replaced! I hope you end up enjoying your per cutter.
