| I have some quotes I would like to share...any feedback is welcome of course, enjoy!
The kids in our classroom are infinitely more significant than the subject matter we teach.
It must be remembered that the purpose of education is not to fill the minds of students with facts...it is to teach them to think, if that is possible, and always to think for themselves.
Education is a social process...Education is growth...Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself.
Do not train children to learning by force and harshness, but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.
The important thing is not so much that every child should be taught, as that every child should be given the wish to learn.
Education is more than filling a child with facts. It starts with posing questions.--D.T. Max Most teachers waste their time by asking questions, which are intended to discover what a pupil does not know whereas the true art of questioning has for its purpose to discover what the pupil knows or is capeable of knowing.
What we want to see is the child in pursuit of knowledge, and not knowledge in pursuit of the child.
'School can be a torture or an instrument of inspiration.'
"Schools should be about providing a sense of hope for all not achievement for the few."--Unknown "To be interested is to be absorbed in, wrapped up in, carried away by, some object. To take an interest is to be on the alert, to care about, to be attentive."--John Dewey One can think effectively only when one is willing to endure suspense and to undergo the trouble of searching."
"We've got to do fewer things in school. The greatest enemy of understanding is coverage...You've got to take enough time to get kids deeply involved in something so they can think about it in lots of different ways and apply it."
"The teacher who is attempting to teach without inspiring the pupil with a desire to learn is hammering on a cold iron."--Horace Mann Hope you all enjoy!:) |

| Here are two more that I think should be engraved in the hallways of our schools. ;) You are educated when you have the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or self-confidence. -- Robert Frost Education would be so much more effective if its purpose were to ensure that by the time they leave school every boy and girl should know how much they don't know, and be imbued with a lifelong desire to know it. -- Sir William Haley |
