Wow! Didn't think this post was anywhere around anymore! Sorry mandav, I reorganized my online photo albums quite some time ago, so that is why the pictures are not showing up. To update everyone, we did build a picket fence in spring of '05 and did create a garden along the side walk. We only went part way with the fence, but are hoping to finish it to the corner and then built a low stone wall around the corner next spring. I already started the flower bed to the corner last spring. Within the corner (behind the stone wall) we will build some type of arch and mount an 1859 bronze school bell that we purchased last year. This picture was taken in 2005. The fence is built out of cedar and we have left it to weather without painting or staining it. The downside to worms and related areas is that it's not like math . Reason I say that is that if a person in Maine gives me (in Arizona) the a couple of the dimensions of a triangle I can give them all the info they will need to find the rest . Not so with worms . There seem to be no gurus . There are no places to find rock solid bet your boots on this sources of info . There's a lot "well , for me here in XXX we can do this or that" and so on . I have searched and am down to just a few "almost" sure fire methods to use worms . I am now getting ready to use euros to live in the soil in which I garden so their poop will help the soil and as they produce more than I need then I will sell them as bait . The produce will benefit me as well as a few bucks from anglers . It seems that raising worms will work but like the word says "it's WORK" . Start small and learn from your mistakes . A friend of mine had to get out of the biz because shipping costs ate him up . He was selling on E-bay and they demand overnight shipping on worms . I'm sure that if you ask enough people questions you will hear some stuff over and over . You can start with those answers and answer many of the others through trial and error . Keep your worms separate so one mistake does not kill them all . Experiment with small groups . This stifles growth at one end but in case of a catastrophy you are not starting over . It's a slow process but at the rate that worms reproduce you will eventually benefit from their sheer tanacity . I would think that 5 years is a reasonable time to give for this type of project . It's a long time , granted BUT I'm reminded of a girl I knew back east . I advised Nursing School . She said (and I paraphrase) "My God , I'm 40 years old . It will take 6 years since I work . I'll be 46 when I graduate."I replied "How old will you be in 6 years IF you don't do it ?" She is a retired RN and enjoying a GOOD retirement . Work it like a school project . Ask every question of every person . When I was younger I was a pilot . We had a little saying . "When I had 10 hours I didn't listen to anyone . When I had 100 hours I listened to SOME people . When I had 1000 hours I listened to EVERYONE." This is something that "might" support but will at least supplement you . The business will be YOU . It will succeed if you make it succeed and fail if you make it fail .

Impulsivity can be a problem on its own with or without ADHD. Some people might call just the impulsivity problem ADD (without the hyperactivity), and sometimes girls with ADHD or ADD get missed because they don't tend to act out (on the whole) to the same degree that affected boys seem to. Impulsivity, and distractability can coexist as problems and lead to ADHD/ADD symptoms. The thing with ADHD or ADD for that matter is that it's a neurological condition. There 'should' be the classic and problematic symptoms in different settings (not just at school or just at home, or just with certain people for example). Children can have anxiety disorders too. A generalized anxiety disorder can lead to such things as 'jumpiness' and what can look like distractability and even impulsivity. Asperger's syndrome causes a spectrum of different symptoms from mild to severe. The classic problem would be correct interpretation of social cues that 'normal' people just seem to pick up on as if by magic. That can lead to anxiety because of not being able 'read' people correctly then they assume weird and incorrect things about you, and that just sets up a vicious cycle of problems. A secondary classic phenomenon with this syndrome is concrete thinking. People who have this may not 'get' sarcasm or read intonations correctly. One of the recent studies done showed that they do 'get' and can correctly interpret happy and sad facial expressions. They did have difficulty distinguishing the subtle differences between sad and angry though. A good, accurate diagnosis and some understanding on her part of what she needs to work with in herself can help more than vitamins or any other medication, or supplement which may be helpful or needed. Talk to your pediatrician about the problem and all her history and ask for a recommendation about how to proceed or where you can get specific testing. As a secondary major thing, the biggest difference usually between classroom environments and home environments is the organization and controlledness. Classroom environments are defined, and somewhat regimented. Interactions are orderly and predictable usually. Students, and the teachers generally know what is expected of them and the 'rules' for interactions. Home environments by comparasin are much more chaotic even when 'organized.' Things are not as predictable. This can cause problems for people with any of the previously mentioned disorders and more besides (some people just do better, for no apparent reason, when things are more consistent and predictable). children can also have dysthymia, or other mood disorders (having had an unknown math disability, and a level of perfectionism for however many years has probably been a huge burden on her and she might need more help than just time and a name for the problem to recover enough to seem to 'get over it') P.S. Our school lunches are $2.65. The lunches here seem decent. They offer 3 main meals each day. Everyday there is also a choice of Yogurt, Hummus or PB&J sandwich. With the above you get a choice of fruit, veggie or starch. There is also a salad bar option. I have checked the lunch menus all year and was THRILLED to see NO FRENCH FRIES EVER. I think that's great! Although there is pizza every Friday, but the portions are small and kid appropiate. We also have a credit system, where I place money on her account. Kids don't handle money at all if they don't want to. I can also get an itemized list of what she has bought. My DD brings her lunch 95% of the time. Once a month they serve "Breakfast for Lunch" (Pancakes, turkey sausage & milk) which she absolutely loves. But I am very happy to pack her lunch since I know it's healthy and foods she enjoys and will eat. Normal day she gets turkey, carrot sticks, fruit (like apple slices, grapes) and popcorn. Kids are not allowed to "trade" or bring Candy for the snack, but I'm sure it goes on. My DD is picky, so she would not eat a school lunch each day-heaven forbid the sauce touch the pasta!! LOL My issue is that kids may take the veggie or fruit option but not eat it. Or just choose the starches and ala carte "junkier" items. I think our school system does the best they can with foods most kids like (Baked chicken tenders instead of fried) Most of the breads are Whole grains each day etc. Nice selection of fresh fruits. When I was in school the lunches were so/so. I knew my mom's fresh food was better then the mass produced, waiting under a heat lamp school lunch. I normally brought my lunch as it was MUCH quicker too. But you could have spent your "lunch" money on a meal of Twinkies and chips!
