There's nothing quite as cool-looking(temperaturewise) as BLUE flowers. I grew Phacelia a few years ago, best blue i ever saw, next to cornflowers. The bell-shaped blue flowers with icy-white anthers were beautiful, and stirred up images of cooler weather. They do have a short bloom time, hot weather just about stops the show, cutting back helps somewhat. Give 'em a try, i believe there are 2 or 3 varieties. Good luck, and enjoy.

Teresa, Thanks for catching that. No! it is bone dry. I've been out since 8 cleaning out gardens and when I got tired mid-afternoon I did that look-up to justify sitting my 60-year-old bones down for a good rest. My gosh, what a luxury to have a) a spring weekday off and b) beautiful gorgeous perfect weather to work in the yard and c) promise of rain tomorrow. ;-) --MH

First, geesh  this was just a post to share my good news at winning a ribbon in the county fairÂ. I read mulioÂs post and was indeed insulted on two counts: (i) as a grower of a tomato that actually won a prize. I chose to submit Green Doctors simply because it was the best looking truss of tomatoes in my garden that was ripe that day. (ii) as a resident of California. Just because we have medical majijuana doesnÂt mean we are all fruitcakes or high as a kite. I have been a regular reader of this forum for the past 2-3 years - I pretty much recognize everyone who posts on a regular basis. However, I donÂt think any of us can assume that anybody else recognizes us or remembers our taste preferences. While there are many members I do recognize, mulio is not one of them, and I had no idea of his dislike of green when ripe tomatoes. His loss, I must say ( in regards of the green when ripe).

I used Micron black technical pens, and Prisma watercolor markers/pencils. I absolutely love to dabble in all things creative. Gardening included! There's always something to learn and it keeps me both curious and humble. We're supposed to FINALLY get some much-needed warm weather starting tomorrow here in Nashville, TN. I can't wait to get outside and catch up on a few things. My last-remaining hen who the kids named, "Chubby Cheeks," passed away. She was the lone survivor of a coyote attack a few months ago. I recently bought some new chicks at the co-op to raise and keep her company, but I think either illness or loneliness beat us to it. We plan to make some better adjustments to the coop tomorrow when it's warmer, and do all we can to make this next batch of chickens as happy and spoiled rotten as possible.
