It takes a hard freeze to knock out an entire peach crop in one event at full bloom or before. In Amarillo I once harvested a few peaches off Surecrop after two nights in a row at 13F near full bloom. This is why some people try Xmas lights or wetting the tree a couple times at night and declare success. They would have made a crop doing nothing. Look at the chart numbers for 10% survival not 90%. All a home grower needs is a 10% set on most things.

As DH says, actually the 4th was not a hurricane by the time it hit, it had gone around & come back as a tropical storm, I believe. But, still it hasn't ever happened before & I hope not again. I have misplaced the wedding album of Dave & Me. I was redoing it in b&w & have all the b&w pics but have no clue what I did with the original album. Say a prayer please that I find it. There will be a few things going on this month & then more & more will be happening from then on. I'm excited about it & yet this summer went by so quickly & I still have so much yet to do. I can't even remember the exact date! I am sending Kingfisher thoughts your way. LOL Today is my Siamese boys birthday. 12 and 10 years old. Boy time has flown. They are out in the livingroom rolling around in the catnip I got them to celebrate with. I will join them with a glass of wine shortly! I love watching them groove on catnip. I lead such an exciting life!!! The pumpkin festival in Keene, NH is this weekend. Our office carved pumpkins to spell out Equine Journal and it will be displayed on the tower at the top of Main Street about 9 tiers up. Keene is trying to break it's own world's record of 28,000 or so. This year we are going for 30,000! Check out the link below. QOD: My alarm is set for 4am Mon-Fri. and I am usually in bed by 9:30 and 10 is pushing it for me unless I have to. On weekends I try to sleep in which usually ends up being 5:30 or 6! I too got a flyer home from school which Had a well know area University name on it, and mentions of IRD throughout it. I looked at the website mentioned on the flyer, and found some great testimonials, and information. The web site looked like a part of the Universities web site. However, many of the links on the website didn't work... like the home link and links to other areas about the university. I called the number on the flyer, and it was definately not the university. The person on the phone was very nice, and professional, she asked some questions about my daughter, and told me that she could definately benefit from the program. At a couple of points during the conversation it sounded as if she were reading from a script. I wanted information, which I received. But, when the call was about to end she wanted a credit card number so she could enroll my daughter in the class. She explained that this is their heavy enrollment period, and wouldn't want us to loose out because the class was full. At this point there was no way I was giving a number until I could check this out further. For anyone looking to find out more information I would definately recommend The Teachers Corner. I still haven't decided to enroll my daughter in these classes, but I will certainly continue to do research. I have emailed some people in our school system to see if anyone can give me any information.
